That is sort of a loaded question. What blows a motor is usually detonation, so as long as your fuel set up is adaquate, you have any idea what your doing, and your car is tuned properly, it's completely fine to boost on a stock motor. There are many people turboing totally stock KA's and making up to 300rwhp... you just have to be smart. No cranking the "maad tizzight b00st" up when your out racing your friends... at the track. That's when most people get stupid and blow their motors.
But first, you need to know what state your motor is in before you attempt it.
First, how many miles are on the motor? The actual number of miles is not as important as the current condition of the engine, so it would be a good idea to do some maintenence stuff like timing chain and tensioners, and maybe various pumps/belts depending on how worn or old they are.
What about your ignition system, is it in good shape? Check your plugs, wires, etc. Do you know if it's been taken care of?
Do a compression test and leakdown check to determine how healthy the motor is. If you don't know how, you could find someone local that does, or get a mechanic to do it.
Hope this helps.
