ok was going to go emance but to much bad>good rep to make me feel comfortable. i want to go enthalpy but trying to boost on a budget.

*now before i hear the "if your not going to do right or you cheap out it will blow" crap dont bother posting. if it blows up it blows up.*

back on subject. what i was wondering is how the stock ecu will react with 370s and base timing retarded? i know i could run stockers and a fmu but i have the 370s sitting here so i figure why not. i was running a safc on the na build but i really dont trust myself on the safc for boost.

heres my setup:93 stock ka248/248cams255 walbrosr t25fmic w/blitz ddfull 3in turbo backtubular exhaust mani

Run the FMU + 270's or nothing.

370s to much fuel then. also correct me if im wrong but i would need a 8:1 to do it correctly and about 3 degrees of base timing would be my best then till i have the money for enthalpy. i am only running 8-10 also.

2-3 degrees of timing and 7-8 psi of boost would be smart. 10 is pushing it on a FMU setup, not really what you want to do.

Do yourself a favor and dont run an FMU. Those things are intended to be used on supercharged engines, which make boost differently than turbos. Superchargers usually don't run more than 10 psi average on your average supercharged V8 for instance. On a turbo engine you are gamb|ing, and you will get a very noticeable dead spot when one of those things is putting out the max it is set for. I used to run a Vortec FMU with stock injectors and big fuel pump on my KA-T, and popped the motor. It was more of an issue of timing, which I had no way of controlling, another very important factor. When the motor got rebuilt with good stuff inside I went with a tuned ECU and some 370's. That alone made so much of a difference in power and driveability.

if you have a safc 2 and 370cc injectors just use that.

safc + knocking some timing back at the dizzy will be fine for your setup. I ran a emanage blue with 370's and no timing control for 2 years fine. My friend with a single cam ka-t with over 240,000 miles orginal engine ran a safc 2 and timing knocked back at dizzy and car ran fine. It was driven every day and tracked atleast 1-2 times a month for over a year. When he took off the turbo kit to sell his car the car still ran great.

Get a wideband so you can tune the car otherwise using the safc 2 is pointless. If you dont want to buy a wideband a FMU is your only realistic option.
