i was just wondering how kms/miles would be safe to turbo the KA.So basically how do i know if my engine is too high mielage that it would be unsafe to turbo charge it.

Thanks

when you check for compression and leaks, got a leak or bad compression? or smoke coming out of the exhaust?, if not then you're probably good to go with the turbo.btw not all engines react the same.

My KA-T has 135k. I have been boosting for 1k so far and no severe problems. Only accessory problems. Engine has done great. All four cylinders range from 180-190psi.

Without question do a leakdown and compression test.

My engine had 115k miles on it, never burned any oil and always ran awesome, before I put a turbo on it. It had 170 psi across the board for compression so I thought it'd be fine to turbo it. Turns out I had some worn exhaust guides, got a lot of blow by and contibuted to a mild case of detonation. Needless to say, I took the whole thing apart and am rebuilding it to get rid of any other gremlins hiding in there.

Ask yourself, do i feel lucky?

I boosted my car at about... 120k

I'm now at 135k'ish boosting... I started boosting at 8psi moved to 10psi and now am at 12psi... for the last few thousand...

Just check your compression every once and a while... and leaks... I fixd all leaks when I installed my turbo.
