As some of you know I spun my rod bearing at 200k miles a few days ago. I found a replacement KA with 100,000 miles for $200 but it's missing the oil pan which is easily replacable. I'm going to drop that one in there and I have some plans for my original engine.

My intention is to rebuild the KA with the spun rod bearing and slap a turbo on there. I'm not too fimiliar on the technicalities of a KA-T conversion though. I'm pretty sure the stock KA wouldn't be able to handle boost so my question to you guys is what would I have to replace to make it handle boost relatively safely?

well depend on how much boost you want it to handle if you want just daily driven boost like 6-8 then the stock ka can handle it just chang the head gasket to a thicker head gasket if you want more power then you have to rebuild the bottom end with new rods pistons, rings ect. and the head if you want hella more power... and ya the bling bling depending on how much you want to spend on the ka... it will cost alot to built the ka then just swap it with the sr that it is already turbo.. but if you want just as much as the sr then just turbo the ka its cheaper...

Stock engine can hold 10psi after that it'd be wise to upgrade to arp headbolts with OEM headgasket. Then if you have a good tune your good for 300rwhp, After that look towards internals. Some have run stock motors over 15psi with no problems.
