I have my S13 Hatchback for about a year and I want to turbo my car now. I did suspension and brake upgrade already. My S13 is mainly for drifting. Since this is my first turbo car and first time to do this, please let me know if you have any suggestions/tips.

My goal for this S13: I want to have around 250-280WHP with responsive acceleration. I am interested in good response and low-end torque for drifting. I just want a typical good setup. Since I don't plan on rebuilding my KA24DE, I will run 8-10 psi boost. I did a compression test on my engine. The result is 180 psi for all 4 cylinders.

Oil Catch Can Setup/PCV setup:

TBD

-----------------------------------------------------------

Originally, I want to get Garrett GT2860RS turbo. However, it seems like S15 OEM turbo will be cheaper and easier to setup (can use SR20DET bolt-ons).

There are my original threads:http://zilvia.net/f/engine-tec....htmlh ... or...01605

1) Will my setup work? Am I missing anything? I am looking for a complete list.2) What are other suggestions? Please no engine swaps. I just want to build my KA-T.

All the work will be done by me and my friend. The only thing I need from a welder is to drill/weld the bung for turbo oil return on the oil pan. I will road tune my car with Nistune myself, and I am still reading a lot of things for ECU tuning.

Please contribute. I think this will help alot of new people who wants to turbo their 240SX.

Thank you!

Looks like you have your stuff together man

You are pretty much right on track

And your set-up will work with the emphasis being on the tunning other then that you look like your setup is gonna be a fast spooling responsive set-up

wow you definitely did ur home work!! kudos!!

hey buddy skip the glowshift 7 gauges...they will crap out on you right when you need them. also why not go with bigger injectors which will give you a little more potential coz once that boost bug bites...u just have to bleed profusely....an adjustable fpr and a gauge to keep an eye on fuel pressures, also gives you a fine tuning angle. nistune is prolly the best one out there now for self tuning. i have the bikirom which took a crap on me precisely when i went turbo. ... so am waiting for it to come back from australia. support is not one of the best avenues most of these board tuning stuff has. but if you have it setup properly, u can have all the features of the big boys and then some. good luck with the build and keep us posted.

Do I really need JGS Vacuum Block? How do you guys run the vacuum lines? I know I need vacuum for BOV and boost gauge. I am confused now.

I would run the S15. I seen a fully built SR hit 336whp with that turbo. I have a gt2860r ( actually a HKS gt2530r same thing ) S15 specs are pretty much the same but can't beat the price. If U were going the GT route I'd say at least get a gt2871r. But the 2860r (s15) is spooltastic. I swear I was hitting 8.5psi at 2800rpms for about 230-240hp to the wheels. Yeah you are going to need an LSD!!! btw I would just get the JGS tools gt oil line kit , I did that piece mill crap and pretty much spent over $150 on fittings and lines.

I run a JGS vac block, works great. I used it for bov, wastegate, fpr and boost gauge with it. Works sooooo much better than T's everywhere.

Not bad for your set-up. the only thing about a T2 turbo is that it will be kind of restrictive for the KA Motor, which might have air overlapse through your cams. For your power level you should be fine with the GT2860rs,

if you're plannin to get the N60 maf then i preferre N62 so that you wont have to upgrade later.

I think the HKS BOV should come with the recir. piece.Shuriken Battery? sounds like StreetFighters LOL...If you want a smaller battery and dont want to relocate then you can get a Lawn Mower battery. got mine from autozone and lasting me 2 yrs so far.The manifold should last for a bit, usually cracks more when car isnt tuned properly resulting in really Hot EGT, vibration,..etc...

and why are you buyin turbo inlet pipe and also getting the Egay air intake system that comes with inlet pipe. depending on the turbo if its the S15 T28 then you would need the inlet pipe w/ 2 bolts but you would need clockin plates if you want to use the s13 hotpipe and turbo inlet.Go to the junk yard and get an oil pan, it would save you a lot of $$

Also when i did my set-up i had to extend my cat a bit due to the position of the manifold they don't line up like the sr20's, but try it out first you might get lucky.

Also use HUmp Hose Couplers when necessary for your egay intercooler since i'm pretty sure fitment isnt going to be perfect.

One thing that usually go bad in a lot of older s13 is the fuel pressure regulator, so if i were you i go aftermarket something like aeormotive and fuel pressure gauge.

Also Walbro fuel pump and a z32 fuel filter.

Remember one of the most important part is your tune. GL

Do you know where I can buy a clocking plate?

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion of monitoring fuel pressure.

I think I will do:

Thanks for the help!

I've been googling for clocking plate, but the official name is called clocking adapter. No wonder why I can't find it. lol

Haha no problemo! Who needs google when NICO advertisers have everything you need.

Do you guys think getting a TurboXS Knocklite is agood idea? Some said it's unless because the knock light is too sensitive, and can't tell if they have true engine knock or not.

For the oil feed/return, I think I'll do this:

NISsport Oil Pressure Adapter for 240SX 1/8 BSPT (male & female) & 3 1/8 NPT (One 1/8NPT for oil feed; One 1/8NPT for oil pressure sender unit; One 1/8NPT for oil temp sender unit)http://www.nissport.com/catalo...tions

KA24(D)E T25/T28 Oil Line Kithttp://www.jgstools.com/turbo/...98149

0.063" Oil Pressure Orificehttp://www.jgstools.com/turbo/...98149

Garrett GT25 GT28 GT30 GT35 Turbo Oil Drain Flange Kithttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors....m245

This setup will be cheaper and simpler (no need to cut stainless steel lines).

just an FYI, the recirc fitting is seperate for the bov. You don't really need that vaccum block... if your removing the egr, then that free's up a port right there.
