First off, i cant believe you took a wire wheel to your head*. That was retarded. If your really going to do something like that(which isnt needed at all, care with a razor blade and rag/brake clean works great.) use a Roloc pad. The Green ones with the many 'fingers'. Napa has them, as do some body places.

Second, please tell me you completely disassembled the motor after you did that and got it hot tanked. I see that your head was tanked, did you do the same with your block?

What kind of Head gasket did you use?

Rout that one coolant line under the dump pipe, thats a bad spot for that line. They might be SS covered but they still have plastic/rubberish hose inside Orange RTV is not for exhaust gaskets. Once you start boosting that RTV is going to start burning off, and you wont have a good seal for long. If you really must use a make your own gasket for your car and not a normal gasket, use Rutland Black, its a stove cement.

*EDIT - I meant block, not head.

I would never use any kind of gasket maker/eliminator on my turbo manifold or my exhaust for that matter, your best bet is always an actual gasket. On a positive note, thats a nice build you have going on there, what turbo?

no sir that is not red RTV.. and there is a gasket on the head to manifold... its that copper rtv what they use on most race cars instead of gaskets it works great i have used it many times before and its always worked on exhaust stuff only 1 problem i have had with the seal that the bolts loosen up at turbo to manifold and it burns trough the gasket so i started using that copper i used a felpro hg.. the coolant lines have been there for about 6 months now seem ok to me.. the wire brush didnt touch the head sir..

480sx must have been tired and was seeing things...lol....I assume you took the bottom end apart or atleast cleaned the inside of the front timing cover because i see its dirty from wire brushing the deck in one of the pics.

As far as break-in goes i did the beat the hell out of it break-in. I just followed the Moto-Tune method.

1. Prime oiling system. Start it and check for fluid leaks/ adjust timing/ top off fluids. Let it run for about 10 min so it gets up to temp. Then change the oil and filter.

2. Start it and check for fluid leaks again then go beat on it for a little bit (fingers crossed ). I did 3 pulls @ 33% from 2.5K to 4K, then 3 pulls @ 66% from 2.5K to 5K, then 3 pulls @ 100% from 3K to 6K. I then went back home and changed the oil and filter again.

3. After that it is broke-in for the most part. I did my first oil change in 500 miles then 1,000 miles. Normal oil change intervals from then on. Make sure to use dino oil for the first 2K miles or so.

Everyone has their own style or type of break-in but, that is what i did.

Yea i meant block, that was not the best idea. Did you get the block hot tanked after you did that?
