Log:

my turbo stuff.. all of these will go into the car minus the stock SR SMIC.

Took off the hood and jacked the car up.

FMIC in place.. its the same exact size as the blitz FMIC but I forgot the brand.. its some japanese brand.

test fitted the infamous ETD manifold.

Closer look.

Pretty good turbo/brake master cyl clearance.

setup370cc injectors - installed (prolly gonna need to find one more 370cc, I used KA plastic cap on one of the injectors)Walbro fuel pump - installedCobra MAFJWT ECUETD manifoldT3 super 60, .63 turbine A/RTial 38mm WG (4psi spring for now)Turbo XS BOVJGS oil lines & fittingscustom 2.5 inch IC pipingscustom 3 inch downpipeGreddy boost gaugeWideband O2 (soon from streetrays)SAFC 2 (soon from ebay)

Tommorrow we're going to try and work on the pipings + downpipe. Hopefully we can get the car running by the end of this week.

I am also going to use the ETD manifold as is... I am going to test and see how long this manifold will hold. (my guess will be a couple of months if im lucky).I am not going to reweld the weldings and gaps... prolly gonna do some grindings to smooth things out a bit but thats it.I am not really satisfied with the quality but I like the design. I am going to be looking for another manifold (not ETD) to replace this ETD one after the car runs.

stay tuned :)

how does the downpipe fit in there? does it hit the steering shaft at all?

Looks sweet!

Let us know how you like that version of the T3 super 60....

I have a T3 Super 60B as well, .48 a/r turbine, .60 a/r compressor, and I feel it's just a bit too small for the KA.

Is yours essentially the same turbo except with a .63 a/r turbine, ie, does it have the same a/r compressor/trim?

Thanks for the comments guys

well from the looks of it, I dont think the downpipe will hit the steering shaft. It will be quite close but i dont think it will touch.I'll found out tommorrow since tommorrow we're going to measure everything up.Im using SR 3 inch downpipe so all I have to do is to make a one bend pipe.

Mark: yes the specs are the same except that im using a bigger turbine housing. I'm not aiming for really big HP numbers, Im aiming more toward responsiveness since this car has seen/will see a lot of autocrosses.

Looks great so far! Love the huge IC, and it looks like you'll have plenty of room there for the downpipe to clear the mc and steering....Wish i got one of those manifolds!:ylsuper

we started the day off with taking the I/C pipings off from my buddy's (240_keyy) S13 SR.He has a blitz I/C kit.

After a bit of measuring and test fitting, we decided to make the blitz pipings for mock up.

The blitz coldpipe this is the upper coldpipe. the lower coldpipe also fits (but I forgot to take some pictures of it.

As for the hotpipe, the lower blitz hotpipe seems to fit also ,prolly with slight modification since we fabbed our own upper hotpipe.

Dont ask about the bent hook, happenned 2 years ago... long story.... rain+hydroplane=curb

the intake pipe design looks kinda funky because thats the only compressor inlet bell that I have (its bent in a strange angle). However, with that design, we think it will clear the hood. its just that Im not really a fan of those bends...

So tommorrow, We're going to make a new custom inlet bell so we can make the intake flow better. We will also make the I/C pipings (Lower hotpipe, Upper and Lower coldpipe) using my buddy's blitz kit as a mock up.Also lets not forget the downpipe. We spent hours trying to fit and measure the downpipe. The downpipe is connected with ducttape right now but we're going to weld it too tommorrow. We'll see how it goes.

When you used your cobra maf--you had to send it in to have the ecu reprogrammed and the subtractor circuit put in right? How long was the downtime with that?Im starting my install soon, and Im going back and forth between the cobra maf and z32 maf.BTW-nice setup--looks clean so far

Did you use a u bend cut in two for the cold pipe into the TB? or use 2 90 deg bends?

Ive got all my piping sorted out--butim going through the battery tray this time, and I want to know how was the easiest way for you to do it

Imagestation sucks.. I need to find another host. but hopefully my website will be running mid-summer and Im going to document all of this stuff there.

So today we went to Cuero, TX... about 2.5 hours from Southwest of college station. Cuero is my buddy's hometown and he has a friend that has a welding machine and he can weld.

so basically these are what we have right now.

the heart of fury... the infamous beater EF that drove us down to Cuero :)

Raw materials. 4 U-bends, 1 Straight

The aluminum piping in the picture is my buddy's blitz piping kit. we used these as a mock up.

Brian working his magic.

The downpipe (80% done)

Jeff (left) making some flanges, and Brian (right) welding my downpipe together.

The finished products. Notice that the pipings in the front are my custom pipings and the 3 piping behind them is the blitz I/C piping kit.So my I/C pipings are done: Upper coldpipie, Lower coldpipie, lower hotpipe, upper hotpipe, wastegate flange+dump pipe, custom compressor inlet bell.the downpipe is 85% done, we still need to fit the bottom 3 bolt flange on to it. The oilpan was also tapped and a bung was welded on to it.

oh and Jeff gave me this... this will be perfect for my custom oil cooler :)

Projex240 : the downtime for my jwt ecu reprogram is a little over 1.5 months. I sent my other ECU i got from my friend so theres not really any downtime for me. I got it reprogrammed through JGYcustoms.com. I highly recommend them. great people!

as for the pipings, we used U bends.for the I/C pipings alone, we used one U bends and cut it in two pieces, weld them in such angle and thats it. pretty simple...I did all of the cutting and my friend brian did all of the welding. So we only used a total of three (3) U-bends to make this I/C piping.

man yuda/keith thats coming along quite well, and always nice to see the heart of fury doing its beater duty, for those of you wanterding why that little white civic is called the heart of fury, its becasue the motor came out of this car, the fury: my $100 civic that ran and was spray painted pink, oven cleaner also removes spray paint without damaging your clear coat udnerneath to bad.

First of all I'm sorry if I keep updating this thread.. I just dont want to make new threads for the same stuff...

Yep... Day 5.. we've been slacking off and the KA-T hadnt seen the road yet...BUT.. we got it started tonight and observed it. It seems like everything is running good except that its running rich. We also notice that the cobra maf is so sensitive.. slight wind messed up the idle.We covered the mafs with my flat K&N and it idles great. We revved it up and man.. the whinning turbo sound was just beautiful... we're still running open downpipe...

Here's some pictures..

Lower hotpipe hooked up

Lower coldpipe hooked up

Ghetto rigged radiator hose... Im not really a fan of it but the I/C pipings made us do it...I'm going to do something about it for sure.

Intake & BOV

the oil feed fittings is leaking... thats because we havent put some teflon tape in the thread yet.. gonna do that tommorrow..Checked everything else and no leaks so far..We'll know more tommorrow when we drive it.. whether it has some boost leak or not.

well thats it for tonight.Hopefully tommorrow we're can get to drive it.

Well, Yuda what are your plans for the internals? I was looking into the KAT build and looking at the CP LC pistons. Since the rods are forged in the KA i'd probably have them check Vilas was recommened to me by on of the BMW techs.

KAT S14......coming soon....before X-mas:)

Where did you get the flange that bolts to the intake side of your turbo?

^^^my friend made it for me lol...he also made me a WG discharge flange...yep he is a welder and he's awesomehe made me those 2 flanges in 15 minutes

S14 Kingmy plan for the internals (for my 91 KA thats sitting around in keith's garage) is nothing fancy.. just regular stuffforged pistons, beefier rods(maybe), rebuild the whole head + port*polish. slap on some 550cc's and thats it.. thats my final goal
