I just got my ka-t running. Its a 91 with a t3 turbo and tial wastegate. My problem is that it won't rev past 3000. it just stutters and will only build 1psi. The vaccum line of the tial comming from the side is connected to the compressor outlet. The thing revs fine while in neutral and doesn't stall. When i drive it, immediately after i let off the throttle it stalls. Thanks.

its a t3 turbo on the iap manifold. I also have 370 injectors and a s-afc. Right now it is set at -27 across the board. Would the tuning affect this? or is it something mechanical. Thanks.

Sounds like a Vacuum line, or your not recirculating the BOV or something, sounds vacuum related to me.

would a non recirculated bov cause it to not rev past 3000? it also goes lower when i shift gears. i.e. it won't rev past 2500 in second.

Make sure all your SAFC settings are correct...ie: sensor type (make sure it is set to hot wire type maf, throttle type and cyl #'s) and as far as the stalling goes, ck the decel air setting if you run your bov non-recircd. Also are you altering fuel pressure in any way? Whats your timing set at?

fuel pressure is stock and i have a btm. but it is not hooked up so timing is stock as well.

my car did a similar thing the other day. it started running like crap and wouldnt go over 2k rpm. i messed with my mafs and the connector and it ran fine. im pretty sure i have a bad connection on my mafs plug. but sounds like your problem is also mafs related. i would check that out.

stock ecu won't let you rev past 3k if your maf is broken/not plugged in.

When I first got ma KA-T running it ran like crap. Stumbling, stalling, smoking all of that crap. I was a moron. I had the MAF in backwards. It ran great once I turned it around.

Iv'e had the same problem. Only mine does it like one every coupe of days. My car runs fine, then after I get on it somtimes, the car, wont make boost, or rev past 2500 rpm, I just restart the car, and it gets rid of the problem. Ive heard its when ecu goes in to limp mode, were it figures out somthing is wrong with it. But I dont know how to fix it.

vadem, you might wanna check your MAFs connections. The connector, and cables going to the ECU. It just might be that you have a bad connector or broken wire.

Well I finally got it running. Turns out I had the wrong wire tapped for the throttle position. Now it has boost spikes. Would a 3inch open downpipe cause boost spike? I have tial external wastegate set for 3.5psi and its spiking to 10 sometimes 15. My manifold is a iap knock off. Thanks.

Your wastegate must not be big enough. Or the tubo is mismatched, or a combination.

the dump to the wastegate may be too small.

Do you mean length wise or wide. The dump to it is like 3inches long.

Check your mass air flow sensor!Take the connector off the MAFS when the car is running. If the car doesn't "die" after that, than you have a bad MAFS. Also check for VACCUM leaks.
