Comin back from work today the car started shaking pretty bad (felt like a flat tire). I was about 2 mins from my house and just drove home and parked it in the garage.

I checked to see if it was the plugs and discovered that if I unhooked Cyl #1 nothing changed, If i took unhooked 2,3,4 the shaking got worse. Pulled out the plug and it looked fine. Put it back in and car still shook. My vacuum normally reads 18 inhg but now it was down to 12-14 inhg. Tried a new plug and it still did the same thing. Then I checked if the injector was working and that was fine. Swapped injectors just in case but the problem persisted. No CEL's or codes or my E-manage.

Now I'm lost, it's getting fuel and spark but it's not running right. Timing was adjusted last week and thats fine also. Check all my vacuum lines and they're fine. Anyone have any idea what might be the cause of this?

Mod's are as follows:96 OBD II KAGreddy Turbo Kit370cc RC Engineering InjectorsNGK Plugs (2 weeks old)E-Manage Blue91 Cams

did u check to see if your plug wire is good?, if you pulled number 1 wire and there was no change, and you say the plug is fine, then try a new or diffrent wire to replace number 1, then move on from there if it doesnt help.. also did u pull the fuel rail and prime it to visually check that u had no leaky inj? ( which i doubt is the case)... before you go looking at vaccume and ecu's and other stuff, look at ur plug wire, and check your cap and rotor..simple easy to check

you said your vacuum was reading 18 and is now reading 12-14. Check for leaks. Try the boost leak detector.

i dont want to seem like an ***, but the reason i will guess why his vaccume is reading lower is because number 1 cyl. isnt firing, so cause of the missfire, the vaccume will read lower until the problem is solved, but thats just my thinking i could be wrong

I kind of made that connection between cyl 1 and the low vacuum already.

The plug wire is good because I can hear the spark as I am pulling it out and putting it back in.

Any other ideas?

Maybe check the cap and rotor and plug gap? Did the plug from #1 turn black and soaked with fuel? I had the same problem but it was caused by a leaky injector. You may need to put in new o-rings. Dont forget to lube them up first with vaseline or oil or they will get torn. You can get them cheap from deatschwerks.com

You need to do a compression test on all cylinders and compare. You may have a blown head gasket or bad ring lands.

sounds to me like broken ring land . been there before. check compression and you will know for sure .

Use a screw driver to check for spark. But I second the idea that it is the ringland. Because you say you got spark.

Well I checked compression on all 4 cylinders and its around 150 on all of them.

Double checked to see if the injectors and spark was ok. Everything is fine

The only thing I can think of would be that it's somehow not getting air, but how is that possible.

I had my friend who is an ASE certified mechanic look at it and hes stumped. Anyone else got any ideas?

Try taking the #1 plug out, plugging it back into the wire and grounding it on the valve cover while the engine is running or cranking. You may be getting a low quality spark? When is the last time you changed the plugs/wires/dizzy cap + rotor? Have you tried switching plugs or wires between cyls as well?

fiznat - we already grounded the plug against the valve cover and it was producing a spark. The plugs/wires/car and rotor were changed less the 4k miles ago. I even tried the old stuff and the problem persisted

I'm going to double check the Emanage wiring and see if i can pull codes from it again. There might be something I missed. Would too much or too little fuel in that cylinder cause this? The plugs were in perfect shape when we pulled them out, not wet or anything.

Just thought that I would like to add that I started her up this morning and there was a bunch of heavy white smoke coming from the exhaust. This stuff even stayed in the tailpipe and hung in the air after I shut the car off. It doesn't smell sweet, just smells like gas.

A few things to check then:1.> MAS plug....make sure it's plugged in all the way.2.> Check all of the couplings, make sure they are on and that none of them are off or cracked.3.> Also check that the suction pipe is completely around the inlet of the turbo.

I know all this sound dumb, but you might have overlooked one of them. I know all of these will make the car run like crap.

Well I figure out why the car was runnin like ***. Injector #1 is stuck open now can this be fixed? The resistance on the injector is 16.7 ohm just like all the others. These are topfeed 370cc RC engineering injectors. Now I have 2 questions

1. Can the injector be fixed or do I need a new one? Is this something Deatschworks can do?

2. While diagnosing the problem I noticed that my turbo has developed an exhaust leak by the wastegate flapper. Mitsu 20g TD06sh. This is where the leak is at

How would I go about fixing this?
