Hi all i've been lurking on here for a while and just reading up on everything KA-T, but i have a question that i not quite sure on. When i boost the motor should i be worried about things like IACV or EGR or some type of emission or fuel control that can be damaged when i boost? Because of the pressure on any of the sensors or valves. Thanks

Most people plug their EGR. I, personally, have not boosted my motor with an intact EGR.

I do run my car with the stock IACV, and the one for the A/C. I've run 28psi with no ill effects.

All the other Vacuum lines and such, have been disconnected from my motor, as well as all the little solenoids and stuff.

Hope that helps.

most people buy the block offs for the EGR because it is just more work to make the EGR effective. have to modify your down pipe to except the egr tube. you can get the block offs for cheap on ebay .. cleans up bay and not so much clutter on intake manifold...

as for IAC you you will be fine with leaving it in. boost wont effect it at all and you will not have any issues with keeping both in ... just more work to keep the EGR system ...

(easyze) 28 psi on what turbo? pic in sig looks like youre running a T2 manifold .. which turbo did you run, just kinda curious thats all

go all out man, plug up egr, remove all the hoses associated with egr.plug up all the pcv ports on manifold, requires drilling retapping, disassembly of intake manifold. if u want to still use stock location of pcv, make sure the pipes on there with clamps on them, coz if the come off, u will need tiny hands to get them back in.(advise putting a catch can between block and manifold for pcv.(read up on it, its a little more work but keeps the intake clean.)keep iacv, air regulator, ficd and what not to have it idle properly. make sure u clean the manifold and iacv real good, i mean real real good.make sure anything connecting to vacuum source on manifold can be either used properly or blocked. developing a vacuum leak once u go turbo is a pita to catch...

The best running KAT I've seen left almost all of the stock stuff attached to the intake and even tied his EGR pipe into his down pipe. No idle problems, no CEL lights from messing with EGR. There is no benefit to removing the IACV nor the EGR that I have seen proven.

Why remove them when leaving them is just as easy and causes no problems? Unless you're running a standalone just leave everything in place that you can.

Correct me if I'm wrong please.

WD you are def correct ... my first setup i kept EGR and all and everything ran awesome no lights nothing ...

only reason i removed it was due to standalone, and custom intake mani ... but all the stock stuff did run way better ...

I removed my egr with absolutly no problems. It was just easier that way and removes some clutter. However I dont see any point in removing the iacv and having to pop open your throttle to let it idle

I just thought that the added boost pressure would mess up some controls or valves.

To the best of my knowledge it doesn't hurt anything. Again, I'll stand corrected if someone has different info. But I think I'm correct.

Is it possible to make a custom EGR pipe (like a flex pipe or something) so it is more simple to connect to your down pipe?

I mean I know it is possible, but would the system work the same?

so long as its sealed no problems would occur.

I just bought a ebay manifold with some barbed hose fitting on the manifold what kind of tubing would be suitable

The only thing that should go there is a plug. I have no idea why those manifolds come with that barbed fitting. You sure as hell don't want to connect vacuum hose to a turbo manifold...lol.

Oh sorry i didn't specify my question enough, thought it had something to do with the EGR or whatever that pipe that ties into my exhaust manifold. They must have put that thing there for some reason.. or not.

Right now i have obx headers on my KA and just like the stock one there is the hook up for the EGR tube, how would the EGR work if i plug the one on my turbo manifold when i boost the motor.

I havent plugged my egr and I'm boosted. Will that throw off my AFR readings like an exhaust leak before my wideband?

And I think that little port on the manifolds are for EGT gauges.
