This occurrence completely boggled my mind tonight. I rode around town for about an hour or more (stop and go traffic) and my factory temp gauge never moved past the half way mark. But, 5 to 10 minutes of a constant 75mph on the interstate the needle went up to 3/4s hot. I then turned my heater on full blast, which lowered it back to normal. I soon cut it off once back into town and it did fine after that. I checked my fluid levels before heading out tonight and they were fine. Fluid was change and bleed properly recently with a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze, I change the radiator last summer to a cheapy koyo copper one, I am using to stock fan set-up as well. Any help or advice on my situation will be appreciated.

My car runs hot as well. After abotu 2-3runs my temp is in danger so I just leave my heater on and don't worry.Even still after 1hr of racing it likes to get up there.

as for me...what i did to combat any problems...i have a new stock radiator70% water, 30% coolant and a bottle of water wetter from redline.

i also got rid of the stock shroud and fan clutch. I got rid of the stock AC fan too. I aquired a set of stock fans from a 1994 acura integra and made a bracket out of some sheetmetal from home depot to mount the fans too. they are the same length side by side as our radiators are. The main fan i have on the same side as the hoses are on and its hooked up to a switch mounted inside the car. The smaller fan is hooked up to my AC power wires and only comes on when i use the AC. I only switch the main fan on when im doing 45 and under on regular roads and when its mostly day time. Sometimes at night ill turn them on only as a precautionary method. I never have them on no matter what when im on the highway. No need for them. I have an external autometer coolant temp gauge inside my car and my car never gets above 155 degrees and on the highway its about 140. when the temps outside were 100 degrees out in the summer...with the ac on full blast...just idling at a stop light. i would never get any higher than 180 and thats everything fully maxed out.

before...i used to have the stock ac fan and stock clutch fan with just only a 50/50 mix in the radiator and the temp would reach 210 with the ac on idling 100 degrees outside....

reason why i have 70% water is because water transfers heat better than coolant. i have to have coolant mostly as an anti rusting agent and to provide some kind of lubrication inside the engine (again, anti rusting). If you say otherwise then you dont know **** because im an ase tech and other ase techs i know say the same. in the winter time im going to switch to 50/50 just for the colder weather so i wont have to take any chances of any freezing happening cause it gets uber cold here in kc during the winter.

I am going to assume you still have your stock clutch fan/elec ac fan. As dumb as this sounds make sure your clutch fan is facing the right direction...ie pulling air through the radiator. Also your viscous clutch on your clutch fan might be shot.

I live in AZ...120 in the summer. I have a brass alloy csf rad, no shroud, stock fans, nismo thermo, nismo rad cap. I flushed the entire system and switched to dexcool, 60water/40af + ww, cooling panel. I am also ka-t. I never have any overheating problems with this configuration. Infact when I start boosting you can watch my temps start to drop. I am just throwing my configuration out there as a suggestion to you.

not a T-Stat. bad fan clutch, happens to alot of the old muscle cars too. Replace or go straight fan.

Very doubtful...the mechanical fan is essentially useless at 75 mph anyway with the amount of air flowing through the radiator...the mechanical (clutch) fan is essentially used to cool the engine during stop and go traffic, etc...

I ran my car with just the stock electric fan for 2 summers, no mechanical fan, and I never had overheating problems.

Before the car blew up I was running the stock fan shroud again (just for insurance reasons), the stock A/C fan, no shroud, a 2.1" aluminum koyo radiator, 70% water and 30% anti freeze, and redline water wetter...

temps never got above 180 degrees, even with 90 degree ambient temp and the AC on.

You live in Alabama, so I'd flush the whole system again (make damn sure you don't get any air bubbles in it...follow the FSM or you will have a headache on your hands), put in 70 or even 75% water, and watter wetter, and check out the thermostat while you're at it to make sure it's functioning properly....

70/30 water/coolant + water wetter, Koyo radiator/cap , and a 12" flex-a-lite fan - my car NEVER goes above normal operating temp no matter what the degrees are outside, and how much i beat on it.
