My car finally runs but it idles like crap.

It backfires, lots of smoke out of the exhaust and the idle won't stay steady at all.

It just sits there and fluctuates up and down, up and down. On cold starts sometimes the idle will dip and the car will die.

I'm running a JWT ECU and Z32 Maf with 50lb injectors, the engine is a KA24E. The MAF doesn't have a filter on it yet but I doubt that would cause such an issue.

Prior to installing the turbo the car idled fine. (Had a little fluctuating idle until I disconnected the black box near the drivers side strut tower from the intake)

After 3 months of trying to get this thing running I'm about to set it on fire.

It stop or got worse?JWT does know this is a ka24e not a ka24DE correct? You checked for boost leaks?Checked to make sure fuel rail isn't leaking? What color smoke is coming out your tail pipe? You have new or used injectors?Do they require a resistor? You have another stock ECU?If you clean your plugs and have your mafs disconnected and put in a stock ecu, even with the larger injectors you should be able to start the car. Are stock ones a direct replacement? If so put stock injectors back and get a stock ecu. Make sure car runs correct. You should do this anyway. This rules out everything else except for either your bigger injectors or the ecu tune. So then you go from there. Sometimes you need to back track. I always keep stock parts to start back from scratch in case of an issue.

The idle got worse when the turbo was installed. Stock it was solid at 750rpms.

Yes, ECU is tuned for KA24e
Florida240sx wrote:You checked for boost leaks?
Not sure...haven't hooked up the boost gauge to see where vacuum or boost is at. What should vacuum read at stock?
Florida240sx wrote:Checked to make sure fuel rail isn't leaking?
No leaking of the fuel rail
Florida240sx wrote:What color smoke is coming out your tail pipe?
White smoke
Florida240sx wrote:You have new or used injectors?
New injectors
Florida240sx wrote:Do they require a resistor?
No resistors..straight drop in.
Florida240sx wrote:You have another stock ECU?
Haven't tried a stock ECU yet. But with a stock ECU and injectors the idle still fluctuated without a MAF wired in.

Haven't tried stock injectors and stock MAFS, it would require resoldering the injectors and MAFS plug back in.

The shop I had it at says the larger injectors with the JWT ECU are causing the car to run really rich (they hooked it up to their wideband).

Check your fuel pressure when you turn the ignition to on, once the pump primes the fuel system if you lose fuel pressure quickly that means you have a leaking injector.... or if you don't have a pressure gauge, remove your spark plugs and look to see if any of them are covered in fuel.

White smoke can be an oil drain issue. Is your oil drain line as straight as possible and not kinked or blocked at all?

MAF wired properly? IACV working properly?
