ok its about that time im wating for a couple of parts to come in and i begin ka-t

i want to do this my self. mainly b/c a shop charges about 600 to install, thats a pretty good price but out of my buget to pay for labor.

my setup will bet04brevhard38mm evolution wastegate3" downpipedumptubeFMIC (22x6x3)i/c pipes ( 6 180degree 2.5 bends)hks ssqvsilicone couplersjgs oil linewarbow 255370ccsafc.

the problem points:

1.tapping into the oil pan -any tips, can it be done w/o removing the pan and w/o a lift

2. re-routing egr into my downpipe b/c i have obd2 ecu.

3. removing the exhaust mainfold.-i dont want to break any studs, any tips to extract them with out breaking them? also am i gona need new studs from the engine to manifold. and the studs for the mainfold to tubo. any special way to install them or just screw them in with lock tite?

4.oil feed- do i have to take off the whole part where the oil filter sits to tap into for the oil feed or can i leave it on the car. it looks tuff to do on the car so how hard would it be to take off?

i think that about it if any one haves anytipes or advice please tell me. thanks for all the help.

Your going to have to drop the oil pan to do the drain.... The oil feed from the turbo will connect where your oil pressure is next to the filter, you have to get a fitting to go in there and it splits into two. You don't need to take all that stuff apart thats behind the oil filter.

Don't worry about the exhaust manifold studs (the ones hanging off the head)...you should have no trouble with them, and it's actually pretty easy to remove the exhaust manifold so long as you have a socket wrench and a regular wrench. As far as studs from the manifold to the turbo, it depends on what manifold you use but most you don't use studs; you use heavy grade bolts. You don't need loc-tite, but you do need a gasket between the turbo and the manifold. Lock-washers are a good idea too.

Oil pan definitely needs to be dropped to weld it; you don't need an engine lift to do this but you do need a good floor jack.

It's not that big of a deal to re-route the EGR tube into the downpipe; mine is re-routed there (OBD II, and I've passed the sniffer emissions in CT). What you can do is weld a piece of bendable (convoluted) steel tubing to the existing EGR tube, and then have a fitting welded into the downpipe so that this tubing slips over the fitting and is clamped down with a small u-bolt.

well ur oil feed fittin can be sourced at http://www.tunertoys.com

its 20 bux and it allows u to retain the stock oil pressure sender. ive been running that fitting for over a year now and its held up nicely.

+1 for what markemark said...........

Make sure to get your car tuned....was that 600 just for them to install, or with dyno time??

That might be worth it then..... Dyno is going to cost you 200-300 to tune. And if they install everyhting I'd be mroe hna happy to pay them the $300-400 to deal with that ****.Although more satisfaction knowing you did it.

dont forget with a top mount mani, your downpipe and dump pipe will all have to be custom unless your buying a kit....and you might want to think about a high flow cat and a 3in catback which will help you out greatly.....

as for fuel management, 370cc will be too small for your to4b....id say at least 450cc injectors....and an SAFC is good, but without a dyno tune id say get a tuned ecu....its all about personal preference....i just dont like the idea of tricking the ECU on MAF signals, causing the timing to be too aggresive

that 600 price is a good price but the catch is that i have to remove and install all the easy thing, and when i get stuck my boy the shop owner will help.but its a fair price concidering the amount of work.

as for the downpipe its fabricated already. and the dumpipe is on the wastegate. so its all ready to drop in. i have a 3' cat back with a gutted cat already. as for the 370cc ill only gona push 7-8psi. i want 444cc but i cant then and they are pricy new

but thanks for all the helpful hints, i cant wait to start.

lol @ dyno tuning a safc... what a waste of money

if youre gonna spend the money for someone to dyno tune it, get better management first.

screw the dyno tune and SAFC...for that price you can get a tuned ECU....

but if you still want an SAFC, i have one you can buy off me...i used it on my old 240 with no problems and have no need for it cuz i have a tuned ecu

even with a tuned ecu ill still need a tune to refine it. and i need to pass emmission in nyc, so i cant afford a check engine light and converting form obd2-> obd1 will do that i hear. so for now im gona play it safe and use the afc, later get some 444 and a msd btm. later when i can see my way to do so ill get a tuned ecu or better yet stand alone.

i was thinking about biki rom but i wana learn more about it before getting into it.

thanks for all the help btw
