Hey guys, I know this has been brought up only a billion times but i've been doing a lot of searching on here and haven't found my answer. Im slowly piecing together my kit for my KA. I just fully rebuilt the engine a couple months ago so now im ready . Im lookin to run no more than 7-8 lbs boost (DD). Some people say you dont need to change anything others say you do, blah blah.... Couldn't I just run a walbro 255 and some 370 SR injectors and roll with it? Seems like a good cheap combo to me. Am I wrong?

from my understanding you can only do 7~8 psi on 370(why I went fmu instead)

I have never understood why someone would use 370cc injectors and an safc or ecu tune. Thats a big waste of money imo. If you are going to get an ecu tune and bigger injectors, atleast get 550s so you have head room.

FMU is where its at on a budget build. For <8psi, the fmu works suprisingly well and is cheap. I'd get a 10:1 if you are using a t3 turbo and a 8:1 if you are using a t2 turbo. Just be sure to retard the base timing 2* and run premium gasoline.

I and many others have run this setup for years with no problems. My car ran a 13.7 with the fmu and 8psi. Good times lol.

An ECU tune is the safest way because it pulls timing with boost. If you had an MSD boost-based timing setup with an FMU it'd be reliable, but the ECU tune is the easy way out.

Beside re-tunes are only 50 bucks. I guess it's personal preference, I just didn't want to take any chances with fuel delivery or ignition.
