A month and a half ago I started my turbo project after completely rebuilding the engine (myself) with topline parts and everything has led to disaster. Long story short do not buy from topline. I had a tensioner go out, chain guide bust, head gasket holes were off, and the oil pump went out 2 days before I left for college. With the oil pump went my turbo (shooting oil into my intake). Well now I'm in no rush on it. I've pulled the engine for the fourth time and I'll be getting rid of the following:-Jgs mani $205 shipped-starion fmic $110 shipped-bosch bov $15 shippedWith that I know of two things I need advice on purchasing. I have a t3/t04e internally wastegated at 9psi turbo, 370cc injectors, jwt ecu, jwt cams, fidanza flywheel, asp ud pulley, p&p, 300zx mafs. I need help deciding between a spec stage 3 and an act street disc clutch. I'm also looking for any opinions on the etd mani. Haven't had much luck finding those but i"m looking very seriously at getting one. Any ideas and comments are very welcome.-Marcus

sorry to hear about the problems.

im planning on running the etd mani. i have a t3/t04e for it. the mani has really good placement if you have a tangential turbine housing. if your turbo is on-center, etd said that the downpipe would have clearance problems with the motor. a few people here on NICO got em, after a few months wait it seems. search and you can see what they have to say about it. good luck with the new setup. btw...interested in the bov, ill pm you

The manifold is holding up pretty well, I am quite happy with the product after the long wait. The only thing I think you should do is ask Jim, if you can get a hold of him is ask him to cut the flange so that each runner gets its on individual flange so that they can expand when the manifold heats up, because I have to tighten up the bolts every so often. Also, just on a side note, I advice you to call jwt and get another ecu programed, because you will pretty much max out those injectors at the stock wastegate boost.

I hate it when the most expensive option is the one I need. How long does that clutch get you by. I've heard that some replace their clutch every year. I can't afford any other injectors. If it comes to the worst I'll get an adjustable actuator. Even though I didn't think the injectors were going to max till atleast 260 or so. I don't think my setup will be that high.

Wow, thats the first bad thing I have heard about topline products. Anyone else have trouble? I was going to eventually get an sohc kit but I have been searching to find out if the rebuild kits use forged rods since the stock ones are(or so I believe). Good luck.

PS: Can't see the pic, I get a message about being outside linked or something.

I was just reading on jgy customs site about blowby. Like in my first post my car ran for 15-20 seconds under 3,000 rpms. There doesn't seem to be any more shaft play in my turbo but it was brand new (rebuilt) from turbo calculator. How do I know for sure that my seals in the turbo burnt up or I blew the rings. There was oil in the uncompressed air too, right before the turbo (where my breather runs). Ever since I got it back together though it's ran like crap.

Here's a new manifold about to be on the market, I should have one on my KA this week, I have driven the prototype which is in the pic, and spool time dropped by almost 800 rpms it seems on a t3/t4 .63/50 trim to 6 psi.

I also had trouble with topline stuff.

I purchased the HP Topline engine rebuild gasket kit for the DE, and the head gasket was also off a hole. A bolt hole that goes from the lower front cover into the head (the only bolt that does this) was off completely on the gasket.

Also, my kit didn't include 2 gaskets that were listed on the sheet that came w/ the kit. Both front cover gaskets weren't there. I just used liquid gasket on this though.

The kit was only a gasket kit, and everything mechanical was replaced by either New Nissan OEM parts, or performance parts companies (ie pistons, rods...)

The only thing that wasn't that I bought was an InnerFire Timing kit, since it was much cheaper that Nissan oem, (only $90.00 shipped), and haven't had any problems with that. The only thing different from the stock parts that I noticed is the timing marks on the chains weren't present, but I just matched the links to the stock chains and marked it with a marker.

BUT, my engine also fried itself 3 days after the entire rebuild and turbo kit install was finished. Got to drive it 3 times, and the 3rd it went. I think the head gasket or some other gasket sucked big time, cause I found out my coolant got into my oil lines, and that's what caused my engine to overheat due to a lack of coolant (since like over 50% was into the oil when I drained it!) Granted my temp sensor also desided to not tell me the correct temp, which would have saved me a LOT of time and money, but luckly I still have my stock head, and the block is fine.

Hope this info helps others trying to decide on how to rebuild/build up.

Hmm, I might consider selling my ETD mani.... maybe. Might go for a budget nitrous setup while I'm in college and poor.

edit... Never installed or test fitted, just taken out of box for inspection.
