i am hearing that the cometic headgaskets are re-usable. is this true?

They crush slightly when they are torqued down for the first time, but they are not technically "crush gaskets." Personally, I would not re-use a gasket like that, just because if it doesnt seal properly its such a pain to replace.

i believe they do to customers preference? i was told by a mechanic that if i wanted to put a highly cut cylinder head(from too much warpage) that i would have to get a thicker headgasket from either cometic or some other gasket place to be able to install it.

i went to their site and they had a form that you could fill with your specific needs.
