Hows everyones car running?

The IAP kit is still pumping and the car is acting like its stock. Maybe alittle surge, but thats the mighty RS BOV.

Taking my setup out and putting it in one of those little boxy shaped corrola's. Im putting in a 2jz now. The ka can take one hell of a beating, I loved the motor it was fun. 2jz should be pretty good, im putting in a fully built block with a 1jz head. Maybe with a 67mm precision turbo.

that's good. it's been a long time since you first turboed. The boost bug never hit you? you never turned the boost up or what? still got the Auto transmission on?

Mine is still running strong. 12psi with a gt35r. Burns a little oil because the engine has a buttload of miles on it but it still puts down plenty of power. It used to be my daily until i started getting into a lot of trouble driving stupid , but i haven't been driving it around much since i got a stock s13.I'll probably start driving it a lot again next year.

well lest see...

blew my t04b, replaced it with a 62-1 t4, driving around with that and the auto on 7psi..

auto transmission is now slipping, my wastegate craped out on me leading me to boost 15psi..

im in the process of rebuilding the gate, and i see my nice 62-1 is developing some shaft play.. great....

on top of that i have a weird fluctuation in my coolant temp gauge (runs hot when it wants too) and it seems like i have low oil pressure on start up.. which is leading me to think when i hit 15psi i came close to spinning a bearing..

on a good note i still have 180psi across all 4 and im still beating on evo's, sti's and m3.. on 7-8 psi woot!

I was also going to ask about your A/T. I'm running 7psi daily on my A/T and it feels great. I do have some issues though and it's probably related to my good ol' RS BOV.

Geo, how's the trans holding up? I'm wondering how long mine will last, although I've kept the boost to 7psi since the beginning and I have a mere 31k on my drivetrain...

I'm on my 5th Ka (2nd built one) and its running quite alright. Just a few boost and oil leaks but other than that, 18psi on a modified Gti-R t28 feels great!

Yeh, as long as you have a transmission cooler for the AUTO and let the auto transmission warm up before driving hard on it. It should last a long *** time.

Been turbo'd since Summer of 2005 on the auto.

This is going to sound like an a$$ comment, but being poor and turbo don;t go in the same sentence

I've been out of the KAT world for 3 years now, tossed a rod through the block Was an oil problem, not a rod problem for the record.

BUT...I'm getting back on the horse here real soon. I'm browsing for a local KA to rebuild at the moment and will be boosted by this summer if all goes well.

Still using the diy log mani and the to big for a KA TO4...but the lag will be good for gas mileage...

I'm also working on converting a T25 into a GT2876ish hybrid. Gonna combine a T25 from ebay with a BB center section and one of my T4 compressors...lol. If it works it will be hella cheaper Which is great when you're a shadetree guy like me with no working budget

I'm leaking oil out the side of a block due to a not sealed MLS head gasket.

And my battery dies every couple of days so I leave it unplugged. It makes the care harder to steal too, haha.

Besides that, I'm running 12-15 PSI strong as anything.

My ka-t was running like a freaken champ for 500 miles. Thats when i noticed my oil reeked of gas. Changed the oil, then went out for my first WoT full rpm run. Car ran incredibly, no misses, no bucking, perfectly smooth transition to boost.

10 min later as i was just lightly driving around cooling off my turbo i hear this light ticking. Had me worried so i decided to pull over in this culdisac i was near. While i was turning the car around the noise became horrible. I had poped my hood, and opened it up. By this time(about 1 min after i heard the orig noise) the noise was so bad i got in a huge panic and was like omfg make it stop. Turned the car off and towed it home. Ka number two bites the dust..

My only thought is my ECU tune was running rich. I was also running 2 psi over stock fuel pressure, but i cant see that making that big of a difference. I mean the rings were in OK shape, 160 compression across the board. If it was higher however im sure i would have been ok.

Just a lesson for you guys who are boosting worn out motors(any motor really..), check your oil constantly for the first 3000 miles of boost for signs of blow by. I know that i checked my oil at 100, 200, then at 500 miles. Between the longer interval, the 300 mile one, my oil became saturated with gas.

After rebuild, she ran for almost 5,000 miles. No issues, and even upgraded a few things here and there....then she started to run rough because an injector crapped out on me.

Right now, new injectors are sitting in the garage waiting to go in. I'm still undecided on a turbo, though. I've sold mine while the injectors were out.. dumb idea.

that is true i completely agree with you so thats why its going on the backburner right now so i can gather up some more parts and do it right the first time

I'm doing good too, was running 230whp and 240tq @ 10psi on a Mustang Dyno (converted to read power at the wheels) for a while now.

Currently in the shop upgrading injectors and MAF and control, hoping to hit 300tq with possible conversion to coilpack + Power FC
