so ive had my s14 for over a year now and ive decided to go KA-T. i already bought a spare KA that is sitting in my garage with less than 80k miles on it from my friends 98. the head has been tanked and cams re-ground. my plan is to keep stock internals (for now) and do basic things like a metal head gasket and arp head studs, SR turbo, and a bunch of ISIS parts like the turbo manifold and what not. this is my first build so any suggestions would be awesome!

and here is my zenki

The car is clean, keep it that way. Do some research before posting, people don't like it when people ask questions that have been answered and covered a million times. But go hit up the KA24det and ka24et section, you'll have all your questions answered!

Car looks good man, I would go with a little bigger turbo if it was me. I guess if your only looking for small hp gains that one will do.

take this advise to heart my sideways breathrin!....if your going to do it..go all the way..what i mean by that..is do it rite...biuld the lower end to handle a new turbo..the KA's weekness is the pistons and rods..shure some rods hang in there upto 300hp...but do you wana take the chance?..ney me...not only will you have a motor that can handle your current hp dreams..but be able to handle a bigger turbo later down the road...in my build...i usd K1 rods..good H-beam rod for the buck, can handle 600hp max...for pistons i used Supertech...inexpencive and high quality and comes with a free coating "Dry Lubricant"..i did however have my engine clearenced to finite tolerence's , i allso suggest upgrading to new valve springs and a mid cam to fully benifit the combination...as for the isis manifolds...im using the type 2 many, really a stout bottom mount for the buck..the turbo elbow left sumthing to be desired thou..the fit is to close to the transmission for my liking..and one nut wont go on due to the tubing clearence...hope this helps ya somewhat..good luck with your build man.

so i have had the car for about 2 years now and im extremely close to being boosted.

stuff i already did:
-5 speed swap ('90 trans from a ka24e)
-dropped the subframe and got rid of some cancer along with energy suspension bushings
-lots of body parts (fender, hood, headlights, etc...)
-XXR 962's 17x9 all the way around
-about 4 water pumps (dont get bosch water pumps, they have 1 less fin than nissan ones)
-on my 3rd alternator (dont put s13 alternators in your s14)
-350z seat
-300z diff for daily/welded diff for drift days

my ka-t setup so far:
-t25 sr turbo (amazing shape)
-s13 side mount with the oem piping
-greddy turbo timer
-boost gauge (in bar)
-custom turbo oil lines
-sr injectors
-walboro 255 fuel pump
-ebay downpipe and turbo manifold and such
-might be some other things im forgetting.
(bought all of that for $600!!!)

i believe all i need now is an apexi safc...
i will be boosing the current ka in my car right now but i have another ka sitting in my garage that will be getting stuffed full of really strong internals in the future.

my 300z diff (r200 i believe) is on its last leg but i have a j30 diff (which is also an r200) i need to swap into a different diff carrier housing because of the .75" of extra length to the j30 carrier housing because of abs. figure ill just take my welded diff out and slap the j30 in that carrier.

also im now on EMUSA coilovers and ive been driving on them for a few months now and the passenger front is starting to blow out already...fml

new parts:
-megan racing catback type 2
-tien tie rods and tie rod ends with the spacer for more angle
-isis aluminum radiator with silicone hoses and converted to electric fans
-EMUSA coilovers

anyone wana sell me an safc for cheap? lol pics up soon i hope

So the only Engine management you plan on running is a SAFC?

and your Emusa coilovers blow.... and you want to buy them again?

hmm...

oh no im not buying them again. just accidently posted it twice. those emusa coils suck btw.

but for now im going to run a safc. it should be fine for a simple setup, right?
but i plan on getting a full stand alone eventually. most likely electimotive setup especially since they are based out of manassas va (30 minutes from my house)

money is short for now until i can find a better paying job though so i will prolly go for low power for now.

Greetings, fellow traveler! I too, am treading the golden pathway to the land of KA-T.

You can definitely go turbo with stock internals. Just be careful. I'd honestly stick to under 10psi with that, but it should be good for a little fun :) There are a few members on here that have ka-t's with stock bottom ends, and they do fine (DD and drifting). You should be able to achieve something close too 300hp

Just make sure your TUNE is good. I can't emphasize this enough. This is what makes it or breaks it. If I were you, I'd send it to R.S. Enthalpy or EFI specialists, they have a lot of experience with KA-T setups like this.

I'd also use some sort of overboost protection with your setup, just in case. Theres an article somewhere on the web that shows you how to use a Hobbs switch to turn off the engine when a certain turbo pressure is reached. Look it up!

Also, POST PICS

No need to go standalone on a t25. Your best bet would most likely be R.S. Enthalpy. Also make sure you get a wideband. I personally recommend the AEM one because its basically a necessity when boosting.
