so im taking off my turbo. i have a 96 240sx with a ka24de and aftermarket t25 etc etc etc. my wastegate is set at 7psi and a few months ago i bought ngk iridium IX spark plugs from frsport and they came pre-gapped at a heat range of 6.... i was wondering if when i take my turbo off and convert it all back to normal will these spark plugs need to be re-gapped and or taken out? i know that stock ka24de heat range is 5 so will the 6 heat range be too cold? or can i just leave everything the way it is?

Well lets try to clarify a few things first. Iridium plugs can be regapped BUT, you have to be very careful when you do so as they tend to be damaged very easily. As for the heat range side of things, adjusting the gap does not affect the heat range. The heat range is determined by the insulator depth and is not adjustable. In general, N/A engines prefer a hotter heat range plug to help achieve a better burn, turbo engines usually have a colder plug to prevent pre-detonation. I hope this was some help.

i didnt know that re-gapping could damage the spark plug.... but i did know that the heat range couldnt be adjusted. i know it's the amount of insulation in the plug. what i really wanted to know is if i could drive with the 6 heat range on a stock ka24de without having to worry about it or do i have to go out and buy new 5 heat range spark plugs?

You should be OK with the plugs you have.
