The ka24de head is superior to a LZ twin cam. The LZ twin cam was designed in early 70's. The very first LZ, was actually not an LZ, it was simply called and L, but was dual cam.

The latest version of the LZ twin cam (mid 70's) with flat valve cover was the most widely used (and still used today). The ka24de valvetrain, combustion chamber, and timing chain system is superior.

The ka24de is more similar to the LZ than an FJ, OS giken, or sr20 head. The OS giken being the only other than can be used with L/Z block, was a good effort but had some flaws. It was designed for use with L series blocks rather than the Z.

Interesting history of the LZ from australiahttp://www.datrats.com.au/lz_twin_cams.htm

With a few modern tricks the bar has been raised.

No, the 240sx was manufactured in early 1988, sold as 89.

1990 240sx were manufactured in 1989, and so on, same with just about all nissan and other manufactures.
