http://www.importperformanceparts.net is offering a stroker kit for the KA. Options include forged pistons any compression ratio and diameter, knife edged crank, billet rods, etc. etc. Says max cc of 2614. Any thoughts? (Look for picture of a red Altima on their home page.)

Gee... stroke a engine that already has a horribly long stroke?

I would personally never do it. I can see a disaster happening with that.

stroking the KA will lead to problems with your RPM band moving even lower. Peak power would be hit sooner, but fall off horribly faster. Especially without supporting cam/cams and other flow enhancing mods.

This was already discussed and piston speed is a big issue with reliability. In order to keep your motor running reliably, you would decrease your max rpms, so 6krpm would be safe for it. your gaining displacement, but losing rpms. A bored ka is much better than b+s.

Bore your ka to make more horepower. Rpms will make more power than that bit of displacement. :p

An increased bore will also increase discplacement.

It would be great if it wasn't just a modified stock crank.

No it wouldnt. Its a bad idea, and noone should ever do it because it is not sound in anyway.

Leave it alone.

and for what you would pay for the stroker kit for the ka, you could swap an rb motor for less.

For that kind of money you could prep the entire block and build it for boost.

I'd rather put my money here than into a stroker kit, shoot you could even throw in a port and polish job and still be under what the cost of the stroker kit w/ installation would be. Course I think at this point everyone knows I am a bit partial to boost designs parts Someday...oh yes someday, they shall sponsor me and I will recive all my goodies for next to nothing..... guess I gotta stop dreaming sooner or later

I guess if you want a good low end torquer. Call on exact displacement since they seem to give several different claims. One says an increase of 440cc's. 2.8litre I4? Anyways you'll need longer rods to keep the rod:stroke ratio. I think this kit with sleeves and max overbore (mucho $) and corrected rod length and piston pin height with 10 lbs boost and 5-5.5K rpm limit should give one hell of a stump puller. 300+ftlbs. Billet rods a MUST.

The short piston deck height and longer stroke will make ring seal rather short necessetating a rebuild in possibly as short as 75K miles. Assuming it's driven sanely. Then again who would drive an engine like this sanely!!

Don't do it.
