Hey I wasnt sure which forum to post this in, so if I'm wrong sorry...

I dont think the SR will ever be a good option for me. I dont know if I will be able to afford that big of an expense at one time, and I cant have my car down and out for too long (I would have to do the work, since I cant afford to have it done). So maybe adding on to the KA bit by bit would be the best thing I could do. I have a couple questions about this process, maybe someone can help me out.

1. how far can I go with the KA just using bolt ons? Is it even remotely possible to reach somewhere around 250 horses with these types of upgrades?

2. if I EVER had the money to go turbo, what would I need to replace to both install the turbo and protect the engine for around 300 horses? I imagine rods, fuel system, pistons, etc, but what would I need specifically? Is $4000 a good estimate as to how much it would cost to go turbo?

3. If I'm going to build up the stock engine, it would seem to make sense that I would need a low(er) mileage engine to begin with. What do you guys think the cut-off point should be between an engine that is too old and an engine that is "young" enough? If I end up having to buy a higher mileage engine, are there parts that I should replace right away to bring a little more youth to it? What tends to go first in high mileage KAs?

Please lemmie know what ya guys think. I know it's just another KA thread- but it's pretty valid questions I think. Thanks!

you can reach somewhere of 240RWHP with the turbo on stock KA (I THINK.. but don't beat me up if i'm wrong)

also.. do a search...we have tlaked a lot about this... another suggestion would be to go into the turbo ka forum or the all motor forum.. you will find your answers there!

alright alright quit it you guys. change your pic dude. you need to.

FIZNAT you could go to 250 at the flywheel just about maxed out (i dont know what to the wheels) but you gotta go high compression pistons and build your head (at least) to do it. I changed out mine and my 93 peels out hard and lays it on the competition seriously. Plus you dont have to wait for a turbo to spool up.

Hmph. I donno... It seems like the lesser option... settling for 250 at the crank... and after building your head and buying all those bolt ons you've probably spent as much as an SR would have cost. siiiiiigh decisions decisions

I would say save your money for the turbo first, since you can run on stock internals. right there you are already at 240 horse at the wheels. cost is prob. $4000 installed.

then build up internals, but a better fmu "if you buy nsport kit" and boost gauge. horsepower then depends on how crazed you are, and how well you build up your motor and pocket book, cost is gonna be lots too.

personally, I like the larger displacement and torque specs of the ka

hmm..i would say forged piston, ecu, polished rods, msd injectors, oh yeah get the block o ringed just in case you decide to get more boost...

No way you'd get 250rwhp w/ a NA setup without a HUGE shot of nitrous. With bolt ons (I/H/E), pistons, cams, flywheel, clutch, pulleys, ECU and a few others you might hit 180rwhp if you have a strong KA; that's good for a high 14 in the quarter. That's about as good as you're going to get w/ a KA. Now you can gut your car and get some grippy tires / light wheels and cut off another .4-.5 a sec and hit mid-low 14s. That's about the limit.

Nick.

wonder if they make a euro-style headlight kit for the 95's. That would look killa.
