K so I did search, so once again, don't flame me with your immature b.s. I just want answers!

I drive a 91 s13 ka24de, and I deleted my e.g.r, idle air control, a/c, heat, heater core etc... I have an intake cone on a stock intake, stock maf, then a hallowed out cat to a 3 inch catback. I noticed how when my car warms up it spits gas out the exhaust and backfires ALOT when I'm driving around, mostly when I let off the gas. I know I'm running rich cuz the smell and for instance when ts cold enough to see your breath outside, while my car idles, it looks like I have a blown headgasket, but I don't. My car runs great and clean, but usually when I'm at a stop light or stop sign etc... When I press on the gas to go again, my car boggs a little then gets up and goes. I just want some tips and help on how to even out my air/fuel ratio. I've been told to clean my maf real well including my intake, but I'd imagine it has to do with the fuel pressure regulator. If you have anwers, thanks in advance.

its running rich partially from the catless and 3in exhaust on a na engine. also how does the car idle without the idle air control on it? mines dirty and trys to stall lol. and its kinda normal for a 240 to backfire a little bit.

Id clean your MAF and then buy a new one if that doesnt fix it. If your headgasket is blown then you will see white smoke out of the exhaust even when it is warm outside, and if your running rich you will see black smoke.

you basically adjust the idle by fine tuning the throttle body.

clean maf like the others said and just try regular tune up stuff like plugs, wires, cap/rotor and o2 sensor. my ka was rich as hell and i changed all of those and now it runs like a champ

Have you pulled the ecu codes? A bad temp sensor or a bad knock sensor can cause fuel dump.

Us s13's are obd1 right? And earlier tonite I cleaned my air filter, maf and intake. To clean the maf I used This stuff in a silver can, forgot the brand but it says "mass airflow sensor cleaner" then below it it says "4-10 horsepower to the wheels guarnteed!" I noticed when I cleaned the maf there was no screen in it, like the z32s have...is this right? Or should there be a screen?? If not, the stuff worked cuz I'm feelin more responsive, and torquier. And on the drive home on the freeway a clean, lightly modded new civic si coupe rolled up next to me and wanted to play. So I played. 3 pulls at roughly 65 mph and I beat it by a legnth everytime. pretty stoked considering it's a k20 vtec. Might be a Honda, but those k series are no joke. Now back to the point, I'm still feelin rich, a little less boggy, but definetly more responsive. But I'm worried about the maf not having the screen...should I worry?

with the egr system omitted, the engine isn't getting the left over unburnt fuel. it's designed to take some of the exhaust gases and let it reenter the intake allowing the engine to warm up quicker. on a cold engine, and on cold days, the air entering the engine is less dense, so you can put more air in. more air=more fuel. the fpr is doin its job, if it was actin up you would get a stall problem. it works off of vacuum.

As the temperature of a gas decreases, density of the gas, with a fixed volume, increases. That's why when you dip a balloon in liquid H, it shrivels. Your car actually runs better when it injests cold air. That's why there's a huge debate weather or not to install a CAI. The CAI may have a greater flow, but its injesting massive amounts of hot air. But the Stock airbox, which is sucks in cold air, but has a very restrictive flow.

Also, you wouldn't need an intercooler if a car ran better with hot air. (Greater pressure (boost) means higher temperature.)

I live in Florida, I don't need the EGR, but residents in other states might.

A car should run slighly richer on a cold day, but not enough to cause issues. A car can also idle much better (or the same) on a cold day. That's also why you can adjust you idle (on a carborated car) a little lower on a pretty cold day.

I don't think S13's have a MAF screen. Okay, let me rephrase that:
Of all the ka24de's I've seen, none of them have a MAF screen, and they ran fine. My first s13 didn't have one, and it ran like hungry fat kid to after icecream van.

Are you sure its okay to delete your IAC? You may have a vacume leak.
