I have a 1991 KA24DE and it is runing really rich. It is a brand new motor only has 1500 miles on it. It was built to factory specs. All i had done was have it balanced and blue printed and the ports were cleaned up a little but thats it. I have been at a stand still on this because I can not seem to figure it out. I would love it if you could just tell me some things that might make that happen so I can see if I forgot something. Thank you for your time.

1. check over the tps settings?2. did you replace the coolant temp sensor?3. do you have any other problems with rev limits or anything like that?4. have you given your mafs a cleaning?5. have you checked over the resistances across your ignition wires or have you replaced them?6. have you checked for an injector leak?

I just set the tps. I have not touched the MAFS, so I will clean it. The Coolant temp sensor is new. I have no problems with rev limits. The ignition wires are new. I have not checked for and injector leak and i will. Thank you

You might also check the O2 sensor.

Careful when you clean your MAF--they are sensitive--use MAFS cleaner--cleaner build up on the wire can cause a bad reading. BTW how do you know it is running rich--can you smell it--is you cat on fire---are the plugs fouling? can you smell it straight away or is it when the car goes into closed loop?

I know that it is running rich because i have a wide band o2. and it is getting really bad gas mileage.
