Ok so my 240 is definately in need of a rebuild, far too much knocking for my taste. I figure as long as I'm rebuilding it, and most likely having to get a new connecting rod(s) to take car of the knocking, what else should I get to build it up? -pistons, rods, bolts, ect. -how much is it going to cost? (i'm on a budget) -where should I get it from?

my goal would be to get around 160 rwhp, and it I need to keep it under $1k. So what would you do?

What did I do when I was in your shoes? Bought a used KA and dropped it in. Did I get 160rwhp? hahaha not for under $1k. Not a chance in hell. "Gotta pay to play" brother.

Yes I'll be doing it myself, with the help of someone who know's their stuff about cars. My plan is to see how it turns out, and decide whether I like it better than my gs-r or not, and sell the car I like least.

Don't think I can get past 150 on a $1k budget? Think I might be better off swaping than rebuilding? Let me know here I don't know much about 240's.

you don't need to replace the rods, the factory ones are forged. Just buy some high-compression pistons, rebuild it, and buy some bolt ons. That should get you past 160whp easily.

if you dont mind my asking how does the ka feel after upping the comp ratio, obviously more power and all but are there any negative drawbacks?

Where's a good place to get (a) new factory rod(s) if mine is bent like I think? Napa? And where's a good place for high compression pistons? Would ARP bolts be worth putting in too?

well, if you're replacing a rod, you should replace all of them. Though they shouldn't be bent. ARP studs are really only pointful if you're going to do forced induction.

how much could the rod honestly bend before it would cause major problems?

if the rod is even slightly bent, replace it. hope that ytyour crank is fine from the knocking, and arp rodbolts are worth the money.
