Hi guys!

Just wanted to ask a few KA things.

The engine block, is it strong? Like a SR20 or weaker? Pics of a KA block? Is there any forged rods available to the KA? How about the head, 16 valve, good? In Sweden we only got CA18 and SR20, I got both in my shop but I`m curious about the KA.

I`m trying to import a US 240SX with KA and know nothing about the engine.

Thanks a lot if someone can answer!

/Mike, Sweden

lucky you for only having ca18 and sr20's i would just stick with that... but stay away from sr20's they blow and yeah the ka block is much stronger than a sr20.

ka24e is sohc ka24de is dohc 16valve head.

yeah forged rods are available.

now hey, ship me over a ca18 motor and trans. LOL

Yeah, KA block is stronger than SR20. ANd the SR20 is a smaller engine, as you know. Yes, there are forged rods and other internal engine parts available. Yes 16 valve is good(KA24DE)

The reason the KA block is stronger than the SR is the KA is iron, compared to the SR's aluminum. The stock block has held up to 600hp, but they can still break. You can find pictures by using the SEARCH button in the upper right corner of the window.

There are more and more aftermarket parts for the KA becoming available, so you will be able to find what you want.

The head is good, and a good port and polish along with a valve job only makes it better.

Have fun with the KA, most people think its the "useless truck engine" but it has been proven time and time again that it has a lot of potential.

Thanks guys!

All the info I needed, I forgot to tell you I`m going to turbo charge the engine. No idea to use the CA18 right? Iron block but still 1.8 litres.

My friend in Sweden got a 885 bhp SR20DET, I love those engines but the head and block seems weak.He had a lot of problems from 500 hp and over, the cam rockers brake all the time, even stronger race rockers.Visit http://www.madtech.se for more info about this sweeet ride.

Is there any race cams available for the KA? If not the stock N/A cams should do the job.

Yeah, I like that mini engine. The SR is good but iron block is iron block.

Sorry, didn`t mean that engine. 885 hp is A LOT, maybe WR in a 2 litre SR20? They just ran 9.6 at a drag event but they promise it will perform lower ET after a while.Using a BMW gearbox and stock rear axle...

There are quite a few companies that make cams for KA's. Check out Jim Wolf (www.jimwolftechnology.com) and PDM(www.pdmracing.com), they are the most popular. There probably are more to be found, check out the site sponsors and see what they have to offer.

Swedish Mike, i would either go rb20,ca18, and the ka-t project if you can get one shipped to you.

I have tons of love for the both rb20 and ca18 engines.

now send me blown ca18 motor over with a good 5spd trans.hahaa.

If you guys want CA18 parts or trannys I can help you later, I`m in CA now.The big problem is to ship the parts, expensive... Sweden is filled with cheap S13 parts but hard to ship. The Swedish 200SX S13 were only sold with CA18DET and 99% 5 speed.

To ship a car in a container cost 6000 SEK, about 900 USD. Fill a container with Nissan parts! No idea to ship trannys and stuff by air, expensive as hell....

There was just a thread about supercharging a KA in either here or 240 General not too long ago (like a week or two).
