Man that is one busted up 240!

I don't think its clutch or transmission but more like what the other guy said. The fan is hitting something or one of the pullies or something. Your motor sounds fine from what I can hear.

The fan moves so fast, look once the car is off if you can find any sort of rub/wear marks on the fan or on anything thats close to it. Its so loud it really seems like its right in front of you. Your clutch isn't engaged when it's sitting there, I doubt it's the release bearing, and your transmission isn't engaged.

Its something around the fan or the fan itself I think, its making contact on something.

hmm, i think i might have an idea on what the problem might be... not sure

but what i did do was change my distributor timing because my engine was shaking alot. so i sped up the distributor to the fullest, and i guess that caused it to do this..?

but i also hear like a bearing running around inside the fan pulley

you think that was the problem?

oh... and also, one day the fan cover fell on the fan causing it to stop completely and i ran it for like 2 minutes after it stopped while running,... moved the fan cover out and back to spinning. and ran good for about 1 month, then this occured....

but i will check the distributor timing, ill make a vid. and post it up tommorow afternoon .

Kinda sounds like power steering whine. Check your fluid

how could it be fluids?

but either way i will check them...

which would be the most important to look after? transmission fluid or power steering?

YOU THINK SO? i made a video but it was dark so i will make another video tommorow...

i had some distributor problems a while back so i got a new dizzy, and i never really put it in the correct tooth position ( not that im sure of )

Seems to me if your timing was off the car would not be running at all. Like lbrowne said the engine sounds good. I would more check in the transmisison area, even if the fan was defective you would not have to rev the car to 4000 rpm to move it in first or reverse. My ideas are as follows:

The bearing noise you hear ( rattle ) is a torsion spring from your clutch. The clutch it's self could be coming apart. It will still work , but you will get slippage until it lets go or breaks apart completly. The input shaft to the transmission is bent or the splines are worn out. Your syncronizers in the transmission are out of place causing a loose ingagement of the gears. Is it hard to shift gears. Once the car is going does it feel like it is rolling smooth, in neutral can you push the car?? The more info you give the better we can help. i hope this helps you.

I really don't think it's your distributor or fluids. Have you really checked your fan?

Heck take the damn thing off and see if your problem is gone.

Alright, first i will make a video of the car and how it shifts... Tommorow at about 2-3 pm..

i dont have time today.

and i also posted this up on nicoclub.com and they told me that it is my clutch... so could it be my clutch?

i was wanting to know how to check if it really was my clutch, and i will take the fan off see if problem is solved..

EASY REMOVE YOUR FAN BELT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS IF NOISE GOES AWAY YOU OWE ME LUNCH AND THEN FIX YOUR PROBLEM....IF NOISE IS STILL THERE THEN YOU ATLEAST ELIMINATED ONE CAUSE IT COULD HAVE BEEN AND CAN MOVE ON TO THE NEXT

is it just me or are we looking at different problems. It looks to me from the video that the car is struggling to move. I don't think the fan would make you have to rev the car 4000 rpm to move it, maybe he just needs driving lessons. I thought the problem was that the car does'nt want to move. Did'nt you say this happened after a accident. I seen your other post some place. Anyway good luck how about fixing one problem at a time because we are hearing and seeing a few different ones.

alright, well i am going to take the fan off here today, i will reply tommorow.

im sure the clutch is about to break completely, what do you guys think? from the video, and ive never seen this before.

PS the clutch pedal feels normal, and i doubt that it is the fan. the fan jjust has a loose bearing inside and thats the reason for it rattleing. fluids are fine.

let me know what you guys think, and if i cant fix it then im going to sell it. if any of you guys are interested

Isnt the fan pulley thw water pump pulley? My fan exploded one day and knocked the water pump shaft off a little bit, but it didnt make any noise like that. Electric fans are easy as hell to put on.
