k so I've been working on my rb20 and have encountered a couple of problems. All of which I have looked thoroughly through all the faqs here on this forum and many other forums. I got the motor in my car with the help of some of the peoples write up, but no one ever has pics for the wire write up. So my questions are,

1) from what i read of the writeup of how to wire the rb20 into s13, it says to find the grey plug of the ka harness on the side of the fuse box and connect it to the rb harness, but I didn't see it and the colors didn't match. So i guessed it and cut what i thought was the grey plug, but im pretty sure I cut the wrong one. In the picture with the four plugs, the second one from the left is the one i assumed to be the grey plug ( yes i know its not grey but thought that maybe cause i have a s14 that the color of the plug would be different from the s13). Can someone show me where the grey plug is?

2) is the plug on the far right the 6 wire rb connector?

3)is the plug on the left the 8 wire rb connector?

again, thanks to anyone that can help me with this

okay I did a little search for you.

Here is couple of threads I found talking about RB20DET wiring.

zerothread?id=225172http://forums.nicoc ... ?id=191744

This last one has couple of picx in it.By the way it's hard to get picx for wiring. Most people dont take pics when their doing the wiring (including me).

And S14 wiring is different from S13, you won't have same plugs and wire color wont match.

Try this site to get your wiring for your S14. http://www.240edge.com/manuals/240sx-1995.html

Basically you will have to go back and forth through wiring diagrams, and compare S13 to S14 and try to figure out your wiring.

All the wires should be in engine compartment, dont know about S14, but S13 you have to run extra wire from inside car to under hood for fuel pump relay.

By the way what car is it, I know it's a S14, year, and what trans (auto/manual)

I will check back Sunday, I'll what I can do. Maybe I'll make some sort of wiring diagram and explanation to go along with it. But I will have to find my print-out and notes.

You only need couple of wires to run the motor, others are like gauge crap/ and revers lights/neutral switch/5th gear.

Just get the thick ones figured out for now. out of like 14 wires you only need to wire in like 8 and fuel pump relay.

later.

Okay I made this diagrams really quick, I looked at my wiring (S13). Some wires I was unable to see because of electrical tape.******* This information is to give you an idea, make sure this is 100% accurate before you do anything to your car****************

First 6 wire plug

and 8 wire plugI'm using rb20 lower trans/alt/starter harness.

I hooked up the thick White/Blue wire to battery, Thinner Black wire goes to ground.

****ECU pin#104 (should be Black/Pink) this should go to Black/Pink, engine compartment (S13) for fuel pump relay power on. But I don't think this is correct, think this should be pin#18( I have couple of ECU pinout diagrams, but I would check Pin#18 first)***** Use volt meter, once you have all your wiring done. Turn key to ign/ac and should get 12V+ for about 5sec.

Your VSS will have to replace cable speed sensor, you will have to make your own wiring and run it to appropriate wires by your fuse box or where ever it goes on S14.

If you want Reverse lights, Neutral switch, (think also 5th gear sensor) working you will have to use Volt Meter to test wires, and go from there. That's how I did mine, but didn't write it down.

Please point-out any errors, so people in future can use this for reference.

Think that's it, afterward you should be able to fire it up, (by the way MAF, O2 wires should be extended, but they should reach to test car)

I will try to do same with interior plugs for gauge cluster, (Have to find my notes)

placham you are the man. I was sure i that i was going to get flammed on, but to my surprise you helped me out. I have read through the first two links you posted many times, but i have never seen the third one.

1) in your diagram for the 6 wire rb plug, you noted that the second wire is n/a but on my wire there is a big red/yellow in the second wire. Should i use this wire or should i ignore it? if i do use it, what do i connect it to?

2) for the white/black wire on the 6 rb plug do i connect that directly to the battery or do i use the red wire coming from my plug (the plug is the second from the left) that i think is the grey wire, but again i have a zenki so that might be different. I've tested the signal from the ecu plug for the red wire and the signal is coming from the blue relay. So what do i do? and #58 on the pinout on the ka is data connector for gst. #113 is the red wire for the ecu current return.

3)where do i connect the black/red on the 6 wire rb harness to?

4) where do i run the white/purple wire to?

No reason to get flamed, unless you would be a total prick , If you got anymore Q's, post up or use SEARCH. There is a lot of people here in RB forum, that if your stuck on something someone will definatelly have an answer.

So your saying your have on plug with 7wires and other with 8wires right?

1. There might be some variations in wiring, because depends what car motor came from I guess. I have the ECU pin out for A31 RB20DET(Cefiro), and ECU pin out for R32, and they have slight difference. It would be great if you could trace this Red/Yellow wire, see where it goes ECU or something else. For example the 3-4 plugs by Rb20 ECU, some of the wires are not used (meaning once you are going to start to wire in your gauge cluster) some are for wipers and other crap) So there might be some wires unused.2. The ECU Pinout above in my Ghetto diagram are for RB20 motor not KA ( I have both SOHC and 95 KA wiring at home, S13 DOHC and S14 DOHC are different, S14 KA is more like R33 RB25DET style) But I think that this still would be same PIN#58, looks to be battery constant think GST (Generic Scan Tool) port connects ECU and GST together , so both get battery power on one wire.White/Black guess could go directly to battery (I would suggest, and ideal to use some sort of fused protection if your going to do this) But best thing to do would be to search wiring harness (S14 KA) for this wire, battery constant to ecu.3. and 4. check KA ecu pin#20 and 38 for these two, I dont know which one is which, but looks like those are the two you would need to look at. These are Ignition Switch related. Think pin#20 is START signal, and pin#38 is IGNITION ON/ACC. Need to find out wire color.

Did you locate Black/Pink on Rb20 ecu, for fuel pump. Looks like KA ecu pin#8 is for fuel pump relay, ecu completes ground to energize relay and close circuit for pump. Would have to follow this wire and tap the Rb20 wire into it.

Oh, and I'm not really that much familiar with S14, never worked on one or owned.

But the way when I did my wiring, it took me about good two days, searching forum and actually doing my wiring. It's like 2 steps forward 3 steps back.

Now go get that thing running all ready LOL

One more thing, can you take a pic of your VSS(vehicle speed sensor), I just want to make sure S14 use plastic sensor as to oppose S13 aluminum, what trans you have on your KA auto/5speed? And how many teeth does the little plastic gear have on your KA VSS?
