People are always saying that sr20det's are better then ka24det but what if you want to go all motor and instead of a sr20det it was a sr20de, no turbo. I want to go all motor and i know high reving is better(sr20) but is there that much of a difference between the two engines? I want to go all motor but i truthfully dont know if one will be better then the other. If you have an idea please help me on finding out what engine i should get. Thanx

The obvious answer is ka due to the fact its a 2.4L.

The KA may have more torque, more displacement, but it's not an obvious answer. Try racing a Sentra SE-R sometime. It's funny how a 2.0L can walk away from a 2.4L. The SR has a flatter torque curve that comes on earlier and stays on longer than the KA. So in other words, we may have more torque available at 4000 rpm, but the SR has more area under the curve (relatively speaking).

I would still think that at 6000 rpms and say around 140lbs of torque your launch to 5th is ginna be more progessive in the long run in a ka. And yeah it might keep up but the ka will still pull away.

I'm gonna have to say that the SR is still gonna be a better motor. Most over-built 4-banger ever built pretty much. It could go both ways though, both are strong engines...I'm just not a big fan of under-square engines that don't rev very high.
