It all depends on how you tune it.

Stock for stock, sr is faster. But for the same amount of money to do an sr swap, you can have a faster ka.

Oh.. and you will be drifting.. y00000

Solid fuel rocket boosters!

Personally, if I were you I'd start out with a stock KA and learn to drive the car. It's a light car and it's got plenty of power since you're just starting out as a driver.

While you're getting to know your new car, you can read lots of stuff here at NICO and decide for yourself based on the merits of both engines.

If it's a manual transmission, learning how to properly drive standard is a good way to get better acceleration.

Good luck finding one. If you already have... well... wow. And have a ton of fun with it.

Good idea not to drift, you definitely ought to just get used to the car for quite awhile before trying anything advanced.

Now that I've been all responsible and crap, I can cut to the chase.

Keep the KA, it has more torque, torque= acceleration. Moreover, going back to the responsible stuff, you don't need stupid power as a new driver, period.

A stock or lightly modded KA will suffice quite nicely for a couple years, slowly building up power with a balanced suspension and brakes as you go.

After you've got a good bit of drive time under your belt, and hopefully have taken some more advanced driving courses, start thinking about a KA-T setup with a small, quick-spooling turbo (or, if you're loaded, a Disco Potato).

Good luck and welcome to NICO!

You don't have to drift...and KA has lots more torque. SR's are over-rated anyways. Since you're only 15, you are probably going to wreck (not trying to be mean, but it's only the truth) So learn to drive the car, then start buildin your motor.

I didn't mean to sound dismissive or discouraging (is that the same as responsible and **** like that?) but the SR vs. KA debate can rage on until the end of time. Ultimately, you'll decide on the setup that suits your driving style and purpose for the car.

BTW, the name "disco potato" makes me want to slap someone at Garrett! I was OK with the much less goofy GT28RS designation.

On a related note, I've heard Garrett is now developing the much more advanced Synth Pop Rutabaga.

15?

Screw a car... what a pure waste of cash.

The last thing you want is to be owned by youre car at that age.

Corse youre 15 and will do whatever anyways...

Btw you will get RAPED for insurance on a 240sx at that age.

I was paying $350 a month for 3 months before I turned 21.

At 21 it went to $165.

Road Atlanta hosts an Audi driving school. It runs about $800... I have yet to convince my parents to pay for any of it... and I'm kinda short on cash... plus I'd rather learn in my own car. (I'm 17- fyi)

However, at Atlanta Motor Speedway the parking lot is used in a smaller driving course, I think it's a couple hundred... they soak it in soapy water and put out some cones, then you drive around with an instructor with an ichy e-brake hand. There's more to it, but that's the part my friends had the most fun with.

Auto X would be fun, but once again the parental units factor in, particularly if they are paying for the car.

edit: On insurance, it depends on a lot of things. Mine would have been about $200/month for full coverage covering me, both parents, and my brother, had I gotten a 240.

And, having a car that you enjoy isn't the pit of despair it's made out to be. Every day I enjoy every drive I get that much more because of the $1000 or so I've spent thus far, and the future cash I'll sink into THe Beast.

Yes try local autoxs with a stock car and go from there. I prefer the KA becasuse of cheap replacement part and I also like the SR because of the outragest list of part available. I would start from stock and you will know where to go from there. Also just keep reading and you will find something you would like to try. Also drifting owns and kumhos are cheap. Nick

I would think the stock KA would be an increase over your current schwin You'll probably be anxous to drive and any kind of engine swap means some downtime.

Welcome to NICO. Worry about getting a car before you worry about what engine it has or could have.

Then after getting the car, worry about getting it up to par, ie. replacing parts that are in need of service like brakes, clutch, etc, etc. I didn't actually get to do my motor swap, until a few years after I basically serviced the entire car *shakes fist*. Don't think too much about the motor you'll build at first, think about getting the car, then getting it up to par, then start building building building. ha ha ha

Bah don't listen to these people who tell you that you are to inexperienced. I bought my 240sx when I was 16 (my second car) and built my KA-T while I was a senior in high school, was 18, and I have never crashed it.

But as stated when you first get the car just go about replacing parts and restoring it a little before you worry about modifying it. The order I did things was replace engine(bought it with a blown engine), replace interior pieces, suspension, rear end, then worried about making more power, oh and after I had my KA-T done then I moved onto brakes and rims.

There are those of us under 20 who are responsible, that's true, Drift Machiine is one of them.

180fan hit another thing. Get the car in great condition first, and along the way, learn as much as you can about fixing stuff and basic maintenance. Get good parts too, and if turbo is in your future, a synthetic oil switch will probably be in order.
