Is the new Greddy turbo really street legal in all 50 states? If it is, is it good and should I get it? How much HP should I be expecting out of it? Also, will it work on a 95 240 since it only states 96-98. I'm assuming it has something to do with the ecu.

I know most are. But I wanted to know for sure if the one for the ka is becuase cops in my area are very strict. One wrong move and my car is gone. Also, what do I have to do to get the turbo to work in the 95? Get a new ecu or something?

I believe they will work for 95 just the same except that you need to retune the greddy emanage.

Either way, you should call greddy to find out for sure.

I live in Rowland Heights as well and was contemplating the GReddy kit. I believe the kit is still CARB-pending.

how can a cop take your car away, the only thing having a turbo could do is make your car not able to pass emissions testing, at least that is the way it is over here on the east coast (some states dont even have testing ie. FL, SC) I know cali is the strictest about it but i didnt think it was that bad

Yes, it is that bad. If they caught you street racing, or even if you weren't but they wanted to screw you, they could take your car and crush it. If you are just caught on the street with an illegal motor (turbo KA counts), they send you to a CARB official and I'm not sure what happens from there, but you better work on getting a stock engine in there.

I drove through LA the other day....that place is a ****hole. Its no wonder you have emissions NAZI's there. You don't even need a map to find it, just drive towards the light brown/grey fog and thats downtown.

hahahah .. and ironically, LAPD is probably at the bottom of the list in terms of enforcing pollution control laws. They got other things to do, like respond to a murder or bank robbery every 15 minutes.
