Ok... Last night I took my air filter and maf off of my car. When I put it back on this morning the engine started to sputter, which it never did before. Does it sound like the maf needs to be cleaned? And if so would I clean the stock KA MAF the same way as this one ? http://www.q45.org/maf.html

clean it with a bunch of carb or brake cleaner. don't spray directly on the element, just let it flow into the holes where the mafs wire is located.

crc has a product called mass air flow cleaner. its a spray like carb cleaner, but a little less caustic chemicals. it dries with no residue and is made to clean all the kn oil and junk off the element. try a parts store.

if you cant find the stuff srpowered240sx was talking about, just use brake cleaner. carb cleaner leaves an oily residue behind and will affect the MAF's operation.

Hi, after reading the post I still don't know how to clean the MAF sensor, do I actually clean the filament(wire) on the MAF or the plastic piece around the MAF, and also do I spray on the filament directly or spray on the whole MAF sensor. Thank you for the explanation.

don't spray directly at it. It'll bust up the thin wire. Let the solvent flow over the sensor.

Ya .... what 'hector da 40' said.

??????????????

I cleaned mine as described above last weekend with Gumout. Worked fine. Got rid of my little 'off idle' sputter.
