ka-e transmission

i know this is like sacreligious, BUT does anyone know if the transmissions for the nissan pickups and the 240 single cams are the same as far as gear ratios, output shafts, case langth and all that jazz. i'm a poor college student and can't afford 1000 bucks for a "new" 5-speed, so i figured i would get a used one out of a truck and switch the long shifter for a shorter one??
