take the rocker/lifter out take some brake cleaner or carb cleaner. an use the straw to put it the hole where the oil would go into it. then take a pair of channel locks an squeeze the pad in till it gives or if its compress just use the clean and try to tap the rocker against something that will jar it lose. then try to bleed them i didnt have to use a needle or anything just soak it in a oil bath the press the pad it and release till it draws oil in an gets to where u cant move it. that about all i can think of

This tick is getting really annoying, at a cold start my engine runs fine. However after the car gets to operating temp it starts ticking. I don't know if the car is getting to hot an the oil isn't working to well or a bad oil pump. Any ideas

load enough you can hear it from outside the engine bay and in the car. It sounds like a miss like the valve train isnt working right or something.I have plans to do a ka-de swap but im tight on money but i dont know which is worth fixen the single or swap over

Well its more than likely your lifters. I would say just get a oil change and use a bit thicker oil, and start saving for the DE. You can probably find one on here for about $400.

You have to bleed the lifters, and the noise will go away. Here's a how to that was written up by a member.

well ive change the oil twice in one month the oil way i ever got it to stop before was put sea foam in the oil before an oil change but i had an idea of how to find the bad rocker arm unplug the coil take the valve cover off and locate the ticking rocker arm since the engine isnt spinning really fast at idle it wont fling oil every where.

It's still going to be messy, idle is over 10 revs per second.

Bleeding the lifters is free. Plus if your going to be swapping it out for a DE, it would just be a waste of money. They are nice lifters, but I don't think that it would be the best way to spend some money.

I'm having the same ticking problem, except my problem is that the 2 cylinders that make up the lifter are seized together.Anyone know how to get them apart?http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=215864This didn't really help

i would say go pull them at the local yard but i see your in alaska and that may make it a little tougher so if you cant find one there you can find one here http://www.courtesyparts.com/2....html

An easier way to check which one is ticking is to take off the valve cover and push down on each rocker arm to see which one moves up and down. If they're working properly, they shouldn't move, but if they're seized/not bled, they'll have a lot of clearance between them and the cam, causing the tick.
