Hi,

I'm new here and heard a lot of good things comming from this forum so I got a quick question.

About a week ago, my original ka-e motor died, so I bought another one and did a motor swap. The ka motor was in running condition when the previous owner removed it.

When i did the swap, i took out most of the emissions crap, like the EGR and various vacuum lines attached to it. The motor starts right up and idles fine, but it DIES when I REDLINE the car for a second. It like redlines and then slowly dies, and comes back on again. Its the weirdest thing.

any ideas?

I have a ka in my Navara and when you reach redline it has a fuel cut off, the engine dies until you back off and the revs come down a tad then away it goes againIf this sounds like whats hapening thats normal

My KA-E is doing the same thing but when yo usay the RPMs come down a tad how far are you talking? Ours will cut out at about 4,000 and not come back until about 2,000. At what point is yours cutting out and at what point is it coming back?

We had this problem prior to blowing our engine and after replaceing the engine it is still happening. I thought the Rev liniter was at about 6500.

The rev limiter cuts mine out at 6000 then comes as soon as it drops below 6000 (like 5900) nothing like yours, 2000 rpm is alot

Try swapping your ecu (see if someone can loan you one) and see if that makes a difference or check the air flow meter

Haha I don't know what's going on with your guys' cars but before I did my swap I hit that rev limiter MANY A TIMES even with the motor knocking bad. I took it once to about 6,700 RPM's before it started bouncing the rev. I read one thread on here about the RPM's of the motor aren't actually the same as on the tach and it will say it is at 7000 sometimes but the true rev limiter I think is at like 6400 but don't take my word for it i'll try to find the thread

So far we have swapped the engine (stock for stock SOHC) due to a thrown rod. Prior to that we swapped ECU (non-Calif w.a Califonia smog unit), Plugs, wires etc, TPS, Removed all smog (on new engine) all four injectors, Power Transistor, Coil. The Power Trans and Coil were both used.

One note is that hte trans is not wired up. Could this be causeing our problem? The trans wiring was all F'ed when we got the car.
