I was looking through some of my older import magazines and came across an article on the SR20DET that said you can use the KA ignition system on it if you upgrade the spark vs. using the CAS and coil packs. Anyone ever run this set-up? What do I need to make this work if anyone has any experience with it?

no personal experience with it but i have seen a car that it was done too. I am not sure what spark plugs wire you would use, as the KA plugs are deeper than the SRs, (maybe the plugs wires off one of the fwd sr20de) but the KA distributor will fit right where the CAS does.

Will this affect the ECU in anyway as to which one I should use? I was planning on just the stock S13 Blacktop one.

I dont see why this would be much benefit because the twin cam KA ECU system is mostly OBD2 and that means no tuning. The 95 KA motors used OBD1 and i guess that would be the one to use but I think the multi coil would be a better choice for the sr.

People used to use the KA distributor/spark plug setup like 4 years ago when SR parts were not as common. People use to send their KA ECU's out to JWT and have them reprogrammed to run SR's, the only problem was that they couldnt program the KA ECU to run direct ignition, so those people used distributors to compensate. Distributors arent used often anymore on swaps because there is an abundance of SR ECU's floating around now.
