I have seen cases of people re-sleeving their motors to take more boost and just make the block stronger.Mainly I see this in hondas, but HKS has sleeves for the SR20DET, anyone know a source for the KA's?Is there another purpose to this other than strength?would it be a good invsement?

Currently Im not running a boosted motor, but I hope to before long. I want to have a rock solid motor before I do.

resleeving an iron block KA is not necessary.

resleeving is usually saved for aluminum block engines (hondas and SRs). the sleeves are made of a stronger material.

just for references,

the SR is alum. block with iron sleeves so it, too does not need any aftermarket sleeves

At 30 psi or higher I would recomend sleeves for the SRHKS makes some nice sleeves. good to 60 psi of boost

Isn't that irrelevant? I thought KA block wasn't even capable of being sleeved (whether it's necessary or not). Wouldn't you have to carve out the block to allow the use of sleeves? Forgive me if I'm wrong because I'm not an engine overhauler but I thought KA block was "open deck" which I understand to mean that cylinder walls are part of the block and not reinforced by removeable sleeves. Is this wrong?

yes, im pretty sure thats wrong. Open block is related to the cooling system water jackets as far as I'm aware.

Honduhs are open block design, it looks like they carved out the block around the cylinder about an inch. I got a friend who has an insane NA b18b1, and he actually put concrete in there to hold it together, seems to be working so far with no problems. The KA does not take sleeves.

Okay sorry for the misinformation, but I just thought that KA couldn't be re-sleeved because I didn't think it even had sleeves to begine with.
