For the people that know what these #'s mean I took a few logs of my car, trying to track down whats causing it to run like crap. I bought a brand new distributor, and new coolant temp sensor as well as o2 sensor. Engine is in great condition, and I only have a UR 6puck and a fidanza flywheel.. please help, it seems like my timing is all over the place, I tried 3different used mafs.

Here is the log file : http://www.rush0.com/images/run.xls

To describe the way is running a little more, SLOW and RICH.sometimes it will bog between shifts, only once in a while though.

I checked MAF power voltage and its like 12.4v, the signal never reaches 4v though.

Its coming out really sloppy when i try and paste it here. I didnt know you could measure the ground voltage.

yes you are doing a voltage drop on the ground wire to see how much voltage the wire and its connection to ground are using, It should be using less then .2v. Anything more and you need to run another ground with the original ground and connect the iother end to the intake manifold.

I grounded the maf to the chassis, I wasnt getting a reading when I tried to test the ground wire. My MAF never reaches 4V, is that normal for the kA? In the repair manuals they all say it should be 4V@4000rpm

your miss reading the service manual. You will never see 4 volts at a stand still and reving the engine to 4k. you may "catch" it on a volt meter if you snap the throttle from idle. You just do a quick romp while watching the meter.

i dont know much about the ka - but is ur static ignition timing too far advanced or retarded?

also u need a longer log than half a minute - need more driving around and that. at least ur o2 sensor looks ok

i think the timing is fine. just shows how much load matters to total timing. your maf voltage really seems high(as scott was getting at). if not a poor ground a bad maf may be your culprit.
