I have a 92' 240sx se with a KA24 motor with 103,000 on it. and a newer battery(1.5yrs old)

my issue is this, for the past year.

Everytime i start my car, I have to rev my engine to atleast 3000 rpm. resulting in my clock and Hicas light to go from dim to brite...almost like it is a boost to the charging system or somthing. after doing so the car seems to run fine.

BUT

if i do not rev the engine within a minute or 2 of start-up my car begins to idle extremley rough and will eventually die. After the car dies my battery is usually drained (too weak to restart the car at least).... then the EGI relay starts to "buzz"!!!!

Also, I dont know if its related or not, but if i just turn my key onto the auxillary position...(I.E. -to put my windows up)..... all of my warning lights on my dash stay on after i turn the key off. I have to jog the engine or start completely in order to get these lights off. This also happens when the car dies from the previosly mentioned non-reving of the engine upon start up.

Please.....any related experiences or suggestions would be a huge help!!! im getting worried that i will do serios damage to my engine if i have to continue this routine.

i feel you man i just bought a 93" SE with 153k on it and mine does the same thing. on start up i have to rev up to about 2 to 3 rpms for about 30 seconds as well. i thought it was someting to do with my ignition switch or lock, it's loose and i have to turn the key a certain way to get mine cranked up. the only time i don't have to do it is when it's only been off for a while. try the idle air control valve or the throttle position sensor, that's the two things i'm going to start with. if it works i will let you know

mine did that when the battery was grounded incorrectly. changed the battery ground to a different spot and it wuit doing that. so your battery ground has probably worked itself loose or something. make sure its tight.

did anyone think about the alternator...... it could be that the belt is loose and it does not start chargin till it get going at higher rpms... t hsi is just my guess... i would bring it to a mechanic...
