My friend told me if I put in main studs I will need a line bore. I told him all the caps are connected together so a line bore doesn't make sense. I could see if there was major overheating or a spun bearing then yeah line bore all the way, but if there is little to no bearing wear what is the point? He also told me if I do a line bore I still could use the standard size crank bearings. Is this true or even possible. He said if I didn't line bore the crank might not spin!

Your friends wrong. As long as you use the same girdle/block and it was in good shape, your fine.

However, you really dont need to stud the Ka's main. Kinda a waste. The main bolts on the Ka are damned strong and iv never heard of any problems or failures as a result of main studs on a Ka.

ah I wouldn't call him an idiot per se. More like a person who is unfamiliar with building KAs. Just like me haha. He can build a mean 2/3TC , 22r thou.

I totally agree and understand.....for once. No spun bearing , no cracked or warped block = no linebore. But you could still do it if you wanted too. Thank you , you just saved me $140 .

ahhh too bad I already bought them. Anyway my other friend says $106 is cheap insurance in knowing your bottom end is buttonned down properly. Even so this is still very good info to know!!! thanks
