I need comment about sr and ka I know that a lot people talking about it but I need the summery if anyone could help me outright now my car is 139000 miles I guess my transmission will go very soon so I am thinking to conver it to 5 speed for now ( money matter ) I need to know what part I need in order to conver it. and will the manual transmission fit on sr ???

other matter is that. I know right now a lot of after market make turbo of KA so should I swap to sr later ?? or should I stay will ka and build it little by little and put turbo ??

if people ask me what do i need for my car i would say that I need good gas mileage and decent power

so anyone please suggest me

( I believe my topic should help me and other as well )

thank you for you comment I will wait and read all of your suggestion

If it is a money matter I would get another automatic. I could have got a remanufactured auto for $900 but I spent like $1200 total on the 5 speed swap.

Im pretty sure the KA transmission won't bolt up to an SR. Building a KA-T is going to cost more than swapping in an SR, and the SR would be more reliable too. As far as gas mileage, I think the SR would be better for that too.

Lucky Im bored or I would have told you to SEARCH, lol.

There's a great writeup on the 5-speed swap in the Convertible forum as well.

AFAIK the KA transmission does bolt to SR, i could be wrong though.

Why not just get another AT and save money for turbo&5spd or swap all at once?

Thanks to another thread I found a couple minutes ago, yes the SR transmission works with a KA. You have to bolt the KA bellhousing to the SR transmission though.

Yeah $1200 was a lot. But I did get everything new except for the transmission, driveshaft and crossmember.
