I am unable to show you any pics but i used the altenator from my '90 SOHC KA. If you take a look at the bracket that holds the top of the RB altenator, it has two mounting holes that use bolts for the waterpump. When looking at the holes, there is the one closest to the altenator, and the one farther away from it. What you need to do is slot the one closest to the altenator allowing you to swing the bracket down about a half an inch or so. Bolt the bottom of the altenator to the plate and you will see what i mean when you swing it up to meet the top mounting bracket. It's not too hard if you have something to slot the bracket with. Good Luck!!

klh got it pretty well. Just grab a drill/dremel and look at it -- it's a quick job.

I remember trying to use my KA alternator and I couldn't get the bottom part to bolt up to the motor. I couldn't put that little spacer thing in because the size diffrence vs the RB alternator.

what I did was connected the alternator at the bottom first then I saw how much the bracket need to come down..also what you can try is after the alternator is connected at the bottom put put only one bolt on the bracket the one on top, then move it down to where it meets the alternator and see where the other one needs to go.

from the picture bellow you can see on 1.. where the second bolt at the bottom is and you would dremel it in the direction of the arrow in order to make 2.. move towards alternator where you can make it work

if you can wait till tomorrow I can post a pice of the bracket.

I'm not in a rush I can wait. what about the spacer on the bottom. I looked at the KA alternator from my SOHC 89 and one part of it's thicker than the RB so I couldn't get the spacer to fit to bolt it on to the motor.

i have no idea what you are talking about as far as "the spacer" goes. My altenator just had the two brackets on the bottom and the one up top. I pulled the rb's alt off and stuck the bottom of the KA alt directly on the bottom mount plate. I then place the long bolt through the hole and bolted the bolt to the back. Maybe the bolt is what you are talking about? It isn't a normal bolt as it inside a rectangular peice of metal, if so this goes on outside the altenator not inside the bracket. If not, im sorry, i just don't know what you are talking about.

The spacer I am talking about is at the bottom of the alternator. It's a cyclinder shape and the long bolt goes through it. Damn I'll take some pics when I get a chance. If you see it you will know what I'm talking about.
