Hey guys I recently swapped in a 95ka ka into my 93.(as in finished it last night at 3am) I used the 95 alt. The belts recently replaced and tightened properly. My problem is when the motor is at idle the lights are dimmer then normal but when I rev it a lil the lights turn super bright. I was just wondering if there are any differences between a s13 and s14 alternator as far as voltage differences and what not? Also my brake light, battery and anti lock lights stay on at idle till i drive it then they turn off. Which from searching leads me to believe that the alt is bad and I have to put my s13 alt. in.

You better go to the parts store and have them check that thing. Sounds like you have a bad 'un! My S13 did the flickering light thing at idle when it started to go. If your battery light is on then look out!

I still have my s13 alt which works perfectly fine so I guess I'll be swapping that over sometime soon

the s14 alt, has 10 more amps than the s13 but I dont see how that could cause a problem. did it just bolt up? I thought they used a differnt ground wire that would req, some modding to the wiring harness to fit the s13.

I used the s14 block with the s14 alt. and s13 p/s pump along with the s13 intake mani and header. Everything just bolted right up with no problem. The s14 alt just took a dump lat night so i gotta change it and put my s13 alt in.
