While I was installing this intake, I had gotten to putting in the NPT piece into the intake tube (step 15 in http://www.kandn.com/instructions/69-7061_inst.pdf). The NPT piece feels like a piece of cheap plastic, and before I had turned it twice with a wrench, the piece snapped off. I was stuck with a broken NPT piece in one hand, and the other half stuck inside the intake tube.

This picture was taken after I had called K&N and they told me to try to cut out the plastic with an x-acto knife. As you can see, it failed.
I got back on the phone with K&N, explained to them my situation, as well as emailed the rep a few photos. I had never dealt with K&N before and I was kind of worried because I had purchased the intake off of ebay, but to my surprise, they have excellent customer service. They sent out a whole new intake tube, as well as a new NPT piece, no questions asked. I just had to show them a few photos through an e-mail, and they overnighted my parts to me.
I just wanted to share this with everyone so if anybody plans on installing a K&N intake, they know not to tighten that NPT piece too tight and to save them from a lot of swearing and cursing. I am also curious to know if this happened to anybody else?
