Hey guys i recently noticed that mt K&N RAI for the 2.5 had an air leak on the plastic peice to connect the crankcase to the intake.
I Contacted K&N and they sent me a replacement for the small plastic vent tube that had cracked. When i recieved it i took out the old one and i tried installing the new piece, but when i tried putting that piece in it was harder to get in than the first one. It seems to me that the thread on the plastic piece does not match to the intake pipe. Has anybody had this problem??

Lol i had to same issue as u before.
I just couldnt get that plastic into that tube and i end up breaking the plastic in half.
From what im thinking is that either there are left over plastic still stuck inside that tube's thread or u just have to slowly screw that plastic into the tube... and i was never able to get the entire plastic into the tube thro...
But overall i really have to question about K&N, because why on earth will they give you a plastic piece on a metal.....?

If this is the same thing as on the 3.5, and the part that Im actually thinking of, you dont "screw" that part in. It just pushes into the hose on each end and the "threads" are essentially barbs to keep it from pulling out.

hmm, I dont think I had that problem. It was really tight when i screwed it in but I didnt crack. also, i didnt screw it in all the way; just till i thought it was enough so it had a good seal.

yea i think i had to push the plastic picece in last time i installed it but i could never get it all the way in... so i left it a little out but it ended up breaking a little so i guess ima order another piece... injen's intake doesn't use plastic for the crankcase vent tube

LOL
had the same problem when i installed mine
i was pissed when the stupid piece broke in two. The piece is not supposed to screw in ALL the way. It has a cone-shape and it is only supposed to go in so much. what i did was i got the same size screw/plug thing ( sorry for my terminology, idk what its proper term is) , but in metal. it screwed in perfectly fine and it was a perfect math for the hose. im sure you can find one. if you look at the instructions that the intake came with, it will show part J as "Vent; STRT, 5/8 Barbed 1/4 NPT, Nylon". Go to your local auto shop and get a metal one instead of that cheap plastic
