which air filter should i get for my j30? i was gonna buy the hks super hybrid air filter it looks pretty cool...i dunno what do u guys think that will help increase air flow and last long? i heard k&n are no good cause they use oil and that can build up inside the intake.....and how should i clean the tube that is under the air filter that draws the air in?

I've used a drop in K&N Filter in the J for many years and I've never had a problem.

The air intake on the J is very good as is. Installing any type of CAI or custom underhood intake is a waste of time and money. You'll get no horsepower or mileage gain. Its been documented by previous J owners on this sight who've dynoed their cars and posted the results online.

In fact in some cases their horsepower or milease decreased from factory spec.

Perhaps Q45 tech can chime in.

If you want a handful of horsespower and a bit better mileage save up your monet and get yourself a JWT popcharger for the J.

well people told me to go with a drop in filter rather then a round one that attaches to the maf sensor because it will only draw warm air into the engine comparment...and people said the drop in filter gets cold air from outside...

Pop chargers are another waste of money.

On the VH45DE, we avoid K&N (and other 3rd party air filters) like the plague because there is no noticeable extra power, they filter less efficiently, the last thing you want upstream from a hot wire MAF is on oiled filter element, and Joe sells the better OEM one for less money.
