I drive a 2008 G35x with 5,000 miles. Would I notice any improvement in performance with a high performance filter like a K&N? Are they worth the money?

Welcome to Nico!!! Lots of opinions on air filters.I currently have one in my 04 G35C, 00 Max, and 02 Exploder.Have been using them in my vehicles for years.

Noticed improvement in MPG with my 99 Exploder.Noticed a decreace in MPG in my 05 G35S.

Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference in performance. However, all of these are the drop-in variety as opposed to the cones.

I think there are some better brands for your 08 and I'm sure those guys will chime in shortly.

using the K&N filter in G37,have not noticed that much improvement in MPG.I think the exhaust sound is a little louder, but then again once you have the filters you do not have to buy replacement filters and with the G37 that is 2 filters!

I have one and Love it!

Sounds sweet and it gets better MPG... (scientifically that is)

Nice to be able to clean it every month!

Look on eBay!

I'm running one in my altima, I also have a performance exhaust, but the combination is astounding

I would recommend it to someone who wants the sporty feel, without the more rhaspy overtones of the cone filters.

I do however plan to upgrade to the injen intake on the altima, and revise my G35 to accomodate the stock filter housing, IE: K&N filter with Fujita intake tube.

This will supposedly maximize performance and MPG.

Good luck!

In combination with a short-ram intake, there will be a bump in HP. The sound will be much better too

I'm not a big fan of the K&N drop in filters. My coupe came with one and I'm dying to get rid of it.

I've had 3 cotton guaze style filters between the G and I30 and they all SUCKED. I decided to buy an AEM dryflow for the I30 and then another one for my wife's celica and they work soooo much better.

The cotton gauze flows better when it's clean, but also doesn't filter very well when it's clean. It gets dirty VERY fast when properly oiled and if you over oil it, you run into the possibility of fouling your MAF and getting black goo all over your intake and throttle body.

Amsoil and some other company make reusable synthetic filters that flow well and filter better. I'd go with one of those.

since switching to a k & n drop in and stillin z-tube, i have a nice intake sound and louder exhaust... i have always switched all my stock filters to either an Fram or k & n drop ins on all my cars i ve had... and i always got better mpg... small power gain shown by a quicker rev...

still debating on getting a pop charger... all its gains are in the high revs... and in normal driving you dont hit 6600 rpms. i dont think the price is worth a better intake sound

a drop in filter is like $50 and will give like 3 hp in high revs, and better mpg

after market intake like the pop charger gives like 7 hp and better mpg but cost like $200+

so you pay almost 4 times the price for a 2x hp gain of a drop in
