Thanks for all of the comments on the k & N filter.... i went ahead and bought a K & N filter for my I35... .. .. now the problem is that it is giving me 15 - 16 mpg (instead of 19) at least that is what the computer is telling me, and i am pretty sure that before the k & N filter it was giving me the 19 [(+)(-) 1]... i can't remember for sure.....but i do feel that the gas is lasting me a less than i should ..now i am wondering what the F is going on..... is it the filter? i was not expecting to have big improvement, or any at all, in my MPG, however getting less MPG did not even pass my mind.... does someone have a similar experience or what could be going on.... i cleaned the injectors every month or so with the fuel injector cleaner liquid, i checked the air pressure in all my tires, the muffler is not blocked or anything.... and overall the performance of the car is good (still doing 0 - 60 in 7.3 secs) so .. i don't know why is it guzzling so much gas, i think i am going to buy a normal STP filter, and see if i see any changes.. i just can't think of anything... does infiniti uses the fuel filter? i looked it up in autozone and nothing comes out.. i will really appreciate any comments... thanksssssssssss

K&n reduces resistance on the air flow....I have never seen it make anything worse. I use them on everything from my cars, trucks, dirtbike and jetskis. just dont get them wet with water. If your filter is exposed and it rains hard or you go through a deep puddle K&n will clog up with water causing worse air flow that a dirty stock filter.Cover them up when you wash your engine too.

I have put them in my exploder, cobra, max, and G35's.Got better MPG in the exploder and cobra.about the same in the max.My wife's G35 got a few MPG worse. Not sure if it was due to pushing it more.I called K&N and told them that I thought her G35 was getting worse gas mileage and they told me that they don't claim K&N will give you better MPG, but more HP.

So, currently, I have a K&N in my son's 02 Exploder, daughter's 00 Max, and my 05 G35's & cobra.

I believe that if you can keep your foot out of the gas, you'll get better MPG with a K&N, if you can't it might be worse.
