Just bought my car and it came w/ a KnN cone filter. long story short, i'm trying to get it smogged, dude says he can't cuz of "that hose". its the hose going to the AIV. I'm pretty sure when you buy this filter brand new it has a carb sticker making it smog legal in CA. but i could be wrong. can ne1 tell me if thats true? if so how can i get one? and if not, you gotta stock air box i can borrow?..lol.

K&N open element filters by themselves do not have a CARB EO number. You have to get a FIPK from K&N that was designed and tested for your car to meet CARB Standards(which isn't terribly difficult for intakes). But if someone just bought the open element filter, and and adapter and installed it in front of the MAF, it is not smog legal. Find yourself a stock intake box, throw it on, and smog it. Or get a CARB legal intake system.
