I've been reading up on K&N replacement air filters. Anyone here using them? Would using one affect the vehicle warranty? If this is important, I drive mostly on paved roads with the occasional dirt road (3-4 times a year, short distances).

I never personally used them, because when I had my Maxima I ran into Fram filters more. Lately, I've been bumping into K & N more often than not. Throughout the years, I heard they were better than average and heard good things about it. I also don't believe it should affect your warranty since the idea of changing oil or filter during recommended maintenance is really what is crucial. I would have use these, but I never really got to it. I am leading towards Napa oil filters as per recommendation in this forum. There is an awesome oil changing post in the forum. I got the idea there. As for K & N, I heard they for high performance racing cars or what not so they won't hurt either.

ps- 05/16/2010 I just did online research and they say PureOne is really a good value while being a top oil filter. I might lean towards that now. Only reason I thought Napa was because I heard they had a longer filter. :bigthumb:

I put in a K&N filter in my Rogue a few months ago, dont notice any difference in performance or anything, but out here in the desert, there is a lot of sand, etc, so I go through the normal filters like crazy but the K&N is easy to clean, and lasts forever, so cost wise, its better for me

I had a K&N cleanable/reusable filter for my Dodge Ram, and it was pretty great in the aspect that in the two years I had the truck, I never had to buy a replacement filter. Just pull out the K&N twice a year (more than necessary, but with 6 months of winter, and 6 months of dusty "summer" here, I did anyway), spray the included cleaning spray, hose it down, spray on the oil, put it back in the truck.
Right now, I just have the stock Nissan filter in my Rogue and have a spare I bought a while ago which I'll use when I have to replace the filter next. But I think I may go back to a K&N just due to the convenience of being able to clean and reuse it.
